So Saturday night I was headed home late in Boca with my girlfriend. We were driving down a main road and as I came to a light behind several cars, a man and a lady pulled up right next to me (no cars in front of them). Guy gets out, tries to open my door and by now there is another car behind me so now I cannot back up. Within a few seconds he bashes in my front windows with his fist and then tries to open my door again.
After a few more seconds of him trying to get in, he tried to break my driver's side window but could not so he busted out the mini window instead!! At that time I backed my car into the car behind me (apparently it was a setup so I find out now) several times and was able to get into a bank parking lot. While I was trying to leave this guy is running after my car throwing rocks and even his shoe at my front window. By this time I am in fear for my life and since the man went out of his way to run after my car, I turned around a proceeded to head straight for his ***. Fortunately I did not hit him but I was able to finally get away and head to my house.
Within seconds the police were at the intersection (thankfully people saw and called 911) and arrested the man for Criminal Mischief of damage to property $1000+. UNFORTUNATELY, since I "tried" to run him over, which I felt completely justified by law to do at this time, I was also arrested for Assault with a deadly weapon with no intent to kill! Can you beleive that ****!! Thankfully when it came time to appear in court the charges were reduced to a misdemeanor for leaving the scene even though all I was trying to do was get the hell away from this guy. I'm hoping after they speak to the officer that they will drop the chagres and not prosecute against me.
Long story short, even if your being robbed, don't try to run em over! I'll post some pictures up as soon as I can my car looks like **** now but glad he had no weapons then there would have been a real problem.
CHECK OUT THE PICS! THERE ARE SEVERAL OF HIS FOOT MARKS ALL OVER MY PANELS BUT I'LL JUST POST THE WINDOWS.

wow scary stuff. glad you're ok. sucks about the damage and charges but im sure they will be dropped. after all, he threatened you with rocks so it was self defense.
Wow...Talk to a lawyer and see what they think...Most people will not stick around if that happens to them...
you got a misdemeanor for leaving the scene!! WTF are you suppose to sit there and wait for the police while this idiot is assaulting you?!?! glad to see your ok and just WOW!!

The irony is that if you would have had a gun and shot him while he was trying to break into the car to get you, you might not have faced any charges. The difference was when you drove away, the danger was over, but you turned around and came back at him when you could have left.

You always shoot to kill. You will get in more trouble if you shoot someone coming at you in the leg. Reason being is that you have to feel that your life is in immediate danger and if you must maim them then you must not have felt that person could have taken your life. I've had my FL and TX CCW license and both states say the same thing......if you are in immediate danger pull your weapon and if that doesn't stop them shoot to kill(or shoot to live, depends on your perspective). I have a Springfield XD Subcompact 9MM with Hydrashot in my glove box in the car or the small of my back when walking around. I have too much to lose to let someone else determine my destiny. I fire my issued 9MM once a month so I am very comfortable with carrying a loaded weapon. In FL you can carry a loaded weapon in your glove box without a conceiled weapons permit. If you are proficient with a weapon I highly recommend it! Here's the statute. It has been clarified that just having the weapon in the closed glove box and loaded is enough. It does not have to be in a holster or anything else but that is a good idea. REGUARDLESS I'M GLAD YOU AND YOUR GIRL ARE OK!

^ agreed. i have my concealed carry in FL, and the first thing i woulda done is shot the guy straight between the eyes if he didnt back off at the sight of my gun. as the saying goes about guns, "better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it".
Florida is VERY easy going in terms of weapons restrictions. get to know the laws and know how to lawfully protect yourself in the unlikely event that something like this happens again.

Something similar happened to my cousin a few years ago, he was aquitted of the charges after a long wait (almost 2 years) for trial, but in the end it was the attorney's fees that really hurt him. At least its good see you two weren't hurt. Hope they drop the charges so you don't have to go through the trouble.
