Has anyone ever polished the stock exhaust can?

Thanks for the comments guys. I know it's not really that big of a deal, but it was a decent little weekend project and I think it helps the overall look of the rear end. I really do miss the aggressive looks of my HKS though, heheh...
as for a DIY, it's really not complicated....just time consuming. If you have an air compressor and a die grinder, it should be really easy! You can buy circular sanding discs and it's easy to get it looking like chrome.
What I did was buy the aircraft paint stripper and just sprayed the whole can down including the piping. Let it sit for 15-20 min. and the paint starts to get really soft. It's actually pretty thin, and you can almost wipe it off. You might have to scrape and respray as necessary.
Then I started sanding. I used different grit sand paper starting with 600,800,1000,and 1500 grit (wet sanding-water is your friend, helps the paper cut faster and cleaner). I never made it to 2000 because I ran out of time.
Then I just hit it with metal polish. Either blue magic or mother's works good. If I had more time, I would wet sand to 2000 grit and polish with a cloth polishing wheel attached to a drill, and some white rouge polish. You can come close to a chrome like finish.
Right now, this is only 1500 grit and hand polish. I would say in person it looks like a polished dynomax muffler. Not the greatest, but an improvement I think. I will post pics when I'm done.
