I spent around 600 for stoptech stg 2 with slotted rotors , hawk ceramics, ss lines and fluid (same year brakes as u).

+10000000 on coating he rotors prior to install, once the pads take the paint off, u are left with nice black lines on the slots and not rust.

thats still out of my price range... i could always keep the rotors the same and spend about $150 to get new pads + get my stock rotors cut....

and what do you mean "coating" the rotors? Do you mean... just get black high heat caliper paint, and paint the whole rotor.. let it dry, then put it on the car? or what?

^pretty much. the pads will remove the paint the from the rotors where they normally make contact. the rest of the rotor that is not used will then be rust resistant.

I was little hesitant on using my new ceramic pads to take the paint off, I just reused my old pads since the new ones were on backorder. Many people use their new pads with no I'll effects whatsoever.

While I'm pretty happy with the result, I should have saved that money and went ahead and bought the akebono bbk from the g37s(or used brembos)... It was out of my price range at the time but now I'll still be spending the same.

Just my .02

dont powdercoat stock calipers.

i tried to take the cheap route and just turn my rotors after some vibration issues. they lasted a few months and then i ended up just replacing the calipers and pads. just do it right from the start.

I think he meant to say rotors instead of calipers...

Get cross drilled rotors...

Please don't paint/powedercoat stock calipers. There is no need to show them off.

A potential downside to both slotted and drilled rotors is that it may be more difficult to find a place to turn them if they warp. Any place that turns rotors will turn solid rotors but it may be more difficult to find some place willing to turn drilled and/or slotted.

just get some hawk or project mu pads with slotted rotors from r1 or a similar company and get it over with.

If I get drilled and slotted rotors with pads, would it be. Bad idea to paint my stock calipers silver or grey?
