Windshield chips

so i'm cleaning the car up after our road trip and notice like a hundred small chips in the windshield and i'm wondering if this is some defect in the windshield. i forgot to ask some of you if you have had this happen to your windshields. i know they weren't there before, so i guess it was during the road trip. but i can't believe this many is normal.

i'm taking the car to Lokey tomorrow for an oil/filter change and i guess i will ask over there about this. seems like they shouldn't be getting marred up like this so easily. i'll let you know what happens after i see the guys at the dealer.

I have about eight small pock marks in my windshield. I mentioned it to my dealer and he told me that I was basically out of luck and that they can not determine that the windshield is faulty or if I drive like Bo and Luke Duke on country back roads.

only if you have florida insurance. and since my insurance is out of missouri i had to pay for it. $996 of mod money down the drain.

picking up the car shortly. dealer leaned towards not wanting to address the windshield issue too much. he did recommend a good person to replace it though, if i wanted to go that route. we'll see how it goes. i like the brick idea, on how to test the windshield, and yes i have florida insurance. but won't my rates go up if i have a new windshield put in under it?

No it won't go up. I know someone who has a brick you can borrow.

Raising the rates might be at the companies discretion. When I was a kid I got stuck behind a gravel truck that pitched a rock that cracked my windshield. I tried to get the trucking co. to pay for it but had no luck. My ins. company gladly replaced it for me for "free" but my rates went up shortly after with no explanation. It may have been a coincidence but I never persued it, I just found another company.

thanks for the feedback. i think i will start looking for overpasses with rebellious youths on them. maybe one will throw a brick down on the car so i don't have to do the deed myself.......
