Got pulled over in Indian River County on my way home to Jupiter this Saturday. FHP got me going like 82 in a 70. Didn't give me the speeding ticket but checked out my tint. Their little machine spit out an 11% reading. (I got 20% Madico performance)...either way its illegal.

Got to thinking though that if I didn't have illegal tint, he probably would have givin me a speeding ticket. The tint gave him an excuse not to give it to me. I'll take a $75 no point ticket over a speeding ticket anyday....

Anyways....mod ticket #1

I'm still waiting for my white light in the clear corner to bite me...

I have an attorney friend who got a tint ticket a long time ago and beat it. I don't remember the details how he did it, but it was something based upon the stock tint of the glass and the statutory language. I wouldn't be surprised if the stock windows had a slight tint to them.

I'd probably pay the ticket anyway because 1) Indian River county is not close to Gainesville so the drive time isn't worth it, 2) by the time you do the research to fight it, you have spent over $75 in time, and 3) it's no points. I almost forgot about 4) depending on your fuel economy, a round trip from Gainesville and back might cost more than $75 in fuel in your SC coupe.

Man I would pay a 150 just so I would not have the points. I got hit with a speeding ticket and it was about 160 - 180 plus the stinking points; I am thinking illegal tint job would save a lot more than it cost after you onsider the hit to insurance.

But it could have been a double whammy had he not been cool about it.

Oh I did not have my registration in the car so he let me go on that ticket... what a nice guy, NOT!

I thought they passed a law stating that it was unlawful to write a ticket for tint because some police vehicles have incredibly dark tint? Was this just in Georgia?

Unfortunately, the rules seem to be different for the popo. That would be a great law though.

For $75 bucks....its not even worth my time to even research that issue. I have to figure its still good law whether police have dark tint or not. There are safety issues in concern and I would think it wouldn't be repealed.

Maybe I'll take a few minutes and see what I can come up with

The only way you are really going to beat it is if the cop doesn't show. I can't see a judge throwing out a tint ticket for any other reason.... but you never know. Always plead not guilty, you can always change to no contest. Especially on those moving violations.

Still kinda silly.

While on that subject.... Hey Todd know of anyone local that does tint (legal or not) mobile? There's an office I detail at where at least 4 people are interested (keep asking me if I do it lol).

Thanks.
