GT-R Update
Here is the official word on the GT-R, as released by Nissan yesterday at the New York Auto Show:
Nissan Announces No. American Sales Channel for GT-R
At 8:30 AM on April 12, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. President and CEO Carlos Ghosn will announce that the next generation of Nissan’s renowned GT-R performance car will be available in North America and badged as a Nissan consistent with its global branding. The announcement will be made during Mr. Ghosn’s remarks at the IMPA (International Motor Press Association) media breakfast to kick off the New York Auto Show. The GT-R, which was previewed in concept form as the GT-R PROTO has not previously been offered for sale in North America. The GT-R will debut in production form at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in Fall 2007, followed by the U.S. and Canada in Spring 2008. More details on the launch of the GT-R will be available at a later date.

Yes, they are not divulging too many details about the car yet. Now that it is not coming to us Infiniti dealers, I suspect we'll start to hear less about it.

Wow, that's disappointing!
If every new Nissan was "badged as a Nissan consistent with its global branding" there would be no new Infiniti's. I think that's a mistake and that Nissan will change their mind before the GTR is released.
The only logical reason to brand the GTR a Nissan is that the Infiniti brand is to be eliminated!

no way....
thats the one stead fast thing about the GTR is that it would be branded a Nissan. Every past GTR has been a Nissan and to be honest the Gcoupe was more of a feeler to see how a luxery sports car could and would sell after Acura's success with the CL-S. I think Infiniti will go to true luxery with the M for high class and Gsedan for middle class along with the SUVs. They might come out with a new even sportier 2seater for '08-'09 to compete with Mercedes/Lexus but I see the Gcoupe being phased out by '09
