GTM best all around!!!

Last week, my car had problems turning on. And sadly, my car had to be towed to GTM.

But the Customer Satisfaction was one that i had never recieved anywhere. They were very helpful on how i should handle the problems, and also they were very prompt in giving me great information.

The guys at GTM are great people and know greater things about our VQ engines. From Turbos to stroker kits to all the other FI essentials they have what it takes to make you happy.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING TO FIND A GOOD TUNER/INSTALLER.

GTM is NUMBER ONE.

HANDS DOWN.

Well that really sucks. I'm not in the GTM camp but I have some questions.

Were there any other complications that would take the install a month? A lot of times I see people leaving out details that delay their install and make a shop(any shop) look bad, just checking.
Stock block or built? Not many built motors blow and I think this is one of the first I have heard of GTM installs blowing. I think I read of another but the owner said he mis shifted.
I'm not familiar with the APS ST, is the wastegate line normally wrapped? Are you sure this is why it overboosted? 28+psi is a lot of boost.
Did they say or offer anything?

No matter how you answer these I know how it feels to blow a motor, and it sucks no matter who is at fault. What are your plans and who are you going to be working with?

Andrew ,

I'm really disappointed with you to say the least ,or let me be more frank - I'm truly disgusted with your recent accusation of us blowing your engine. Don't you think something as serious as this should have been brought to us differently then me running across this by coincidence. very very unethical in my book. Lets actually state some facts here.

fact #1 :your car cam to us for a turbo installation on 9-14-05 mileage on the repair order (75811),we install the following parts:

APS single turbo, greddy turbo timer, and a greddy set of gauges. we did not even install an exhaust on your car, and subsequently it did not even make 300 WHP ,and when our sales rep approached you with an exhaust recommendation, your exact statement was "oh I cant install an exhaust right now because my parents don't know I'm install a turbo on my car."

fact #2 on 02-18-06 ,you brought your car for inspection that we ask our customer to do after every turbo install on any car we do ,this inspection was supposed to happened in 2 weeks from delivery on the car. Still the car came back much later than that and we did inspect and double l check everything (did not have to correct anything). As a matter of fact the car came and left within hours.

fact #3 on 07-07-06 we issued a refund for an AAM single exhaust that you had ordered 2 month back. The exhaust never made it on time .and when we got it and called you to come in for the installation you said you could not the install any more ,because your car was taken away from you by your parents

fact #4 on 11-07-06 I receive a phone call from a friend of yours stating that your car is making noise and that he wants us to take a look at it. When i asked how come Andrew is not the one that calling ,he stated that HE was driving the car. So you friend brings the car at 1 pm in the afternoon for inspection to find a very obvious ticking sound coming from the engine, a noise we can ONLY get when you over rev your car and bend a rod (or rods). So I started questioning your friend as to why he was driving your car, and he stated that you guys switch cars for fun. You let him drive your g35, and you drive his m3, and when I asked him if he had red lined the car, he said not really - "I WAS BARELY IN THE REDLINE".

Then your friend asked to fix the car, so I said sure and that it will be a minimum of 2 weeks. You friend stated that Oh NO, he needed it done today so your parents wont find out. Your genius friend expected me to tear down the engine, replace the rods, machining, etc etc etc ON THE SAME DAY. And this the same guy that you trusted with your modded car? Any one with a brain gets a pretty good idea of what's going on here by now.

fact #5 So Andrew, why does a vacuum hose to the turbo wastegate last almost a year of driving and car swapping and then burn off? On the APS single turbo turbo, it is literally IMPOSSIBLE for the vacuum hose to come in contact with the exhaust. You must be thinking of the single turbo kit from turbonetics, where this scenario is very much possible and a common occurrence if you don't route the vacuum line promptly (which we of course always do) .

fact #6 your car left our shop with a turbo system and a stock exhaust. All the mods you listed HAD BEEN DONE BY SOMEONE ELSE.

Now, here is some free advise. As all can see, we are one of the best operations in the industry, so we document every every time the car visits our shop. So next time you try to indict someone in this way you'll have to do better than that. I take this very personally. We take great pride in what we do here and ANYONE who has been to us and is an honest and honorable person knows the truth about our work, and that we stand behind our work 100%.

OK

It's obvious to me that this aznx2cool is an utter moron and a freaking mama's boy, mooching off his parents for car modding money. Even if this is not precisely the case, from what I can tell, this guy still remains some two bit punk, some spoiled brat who swaps cars with his buddy for his M3, who in turn thinks that an engine can be overhauled/build in one day. Ever heard the term "tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are?"

The reason that I am taking this to heart is because I know GTM's work to be superb, period. It's a pet peeve of mine, I just HATE stupid people, and in this case his stupidity is matched only my his arrogance. There is a good saying, "you can't fix stupid". I am not talking about people who just don't know, but people who are truly ignorant. Case in point!!!!

I've been to GTM after shop hours and have met Sam, George, and even Gurgen who was doing his tranny swap at the time being. As a FI newbie, Sam was very helpful in answering my many q's about tt and its reliability. I was originally planning to do a basic aps tt install on a stock block but after seeing their latest line of GTM products for vq's (cam's, longblock, stroker kits, clutches and etc..) I plan to save more money and build my engine using the GTM products. As for aznx2cool4u, he should be at fault and NOT GTM since he upgraded additional mods and had it installed outside of GTM w/out a retuning. And letting his other friend use his car which could be another possibilty of engine failure due to over reving or mis shifting.

Great response Sam (very well documented, professional). Kudos to GTM.

aznx2cool4u, maybe your friend misled you about what happened, but still not cool to post based on assumptions and attempt to tarnish the reputation of a good shop.

Ok...

If anything, you owe a personal apology to Sam. It'd be big of you to do that.

Thumbs up

I, for one, am a big fan of GTM.
Sam has been nothing short of professional and courteous on my every dealing with him and his staff. I would recommend GT Motorsports without any hesitation or reservation to anyone who wanted work done on their VQ motor.
BTW: I had my Turbonetics ST and few other goodies installed at GTM.
Yes, I saw Gurgen there also.
