stillen s/c

ok, so i had my check engine light on for the last 2 weeks. given that i don't know any places in madison (i moved from chicago) i took my car to the dealer. they say my cats are bad since i have a "turbo". on top, they want $3000 for parts and labor. wtf??? so the question to you guys is should i put back my stock cats or buy a new set of aftermarket? i am also curious if there is something else wrong. i recently had my header crack on one side and currently i have stock headers. stillen claims stockers are better with the supercharger. i wonder if i should put borlas back in and get new high flows. what do you think?

You need to read the code and then proceed accordingly. The Roots type blowers need a little back pressure, so I would try to find used stockers at a junk yard or just check the member classifieds. People are always going with high flow cats.

i have my stock cats sitting at home. i'm just wondering if i should buy another set of aftermarket or have stock cats. i really liked the borla headers and random technology cats i had - it gave a really nice sound on the lower rpms. putting borla headers back on would be a pita.

i'm just wondering why all these things are not holding up all of the sudden. first my headers crack, now hf cats. i don't see how the stockers would be able to handle it better.

With the Stillen S/C, apparently stock cats are best.

You'll get the most power out of the stillen kit with the stock headers and cats. The stillen kit hates breathing mods

3000.00 just to replace cats. The dealer sucks for the record. Like mentioned above, look around in the classifieds and you should be able to find some.

leave the stock cats and headers.... stillen did all their r&d on stock components... i have the stillen stage 3 right now.... and it rocks... i had in headers and i lost a pound of boast.....
the only thing that will really help the stillen is move up to stage 4, or change out your crank pulley kjr.....

+1,000 on the stock manifolds and cats. I tried other ones on my stage 4 and lost power with all of them. The M62 blower needs that back pressure to make power.

As for what the dealer is saying, you need to get the code and see for youself. How do they know it is a cat and not an O2 sensor? What about the common P300 code you get with most FI kits. When I had my stillen and aftermarket cats I got that code all the time.
