Going FI: but running too lean
Hey folks,
Just want to get some advice. Today I dynoed my car and my a/f was reading 15.4. Which is very lean. I am planning on going FI this August. The kit I'm looking to get is a Stillen SC Stage 4. My question is... will I be able to have it tuned to correct my A/F with management system it comes with? Or can I use a U-Tec? Can you tune Stillen with U-Tec? I've heard from a couple of people that you can't. What do I do? You're help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What RPM were you getting this? Stillen come with the SS box and that will take care of your A/F but it won't be tunable since it is locked. I don't know anyone that has used Utec with Stillen but I believe there was someone on M350Z who did use Emanage with stage 3.

yeah, our stock ECU is programmed to run around this area. If you are cruising it is set to run around 14.7 coz this is the best area for power and fuel economy. ECU will always try to correct itself and you will never see it go low 13's on WOT. On FI you see the A/F around 10.8-11.8 for safety and not for Max power.
Don't worry about it for now and go get your Stillen coz the SS box is good for it's power.

I agree that the UTEC is a lot of money to get a little better tune out of your car. It can be done but between the unit and the tune you will have a good $1k+ in it for maybe another 10-15hp (maybe less). Not worth it IMO unless you are going to swap out the kit later for twins or something else. I had a stage 2,3,4 for a while and A/F was never a problem.
