Changes to Vortech set up... need input...

I am switching up some things on my Vortech S/C G... Recently i had a Kinetix V+ plenum and Fast Intention test pipes on my G when i originally got the car tuned...

I just recently took off the test pipes and went back to stock cats (car was tooo loud)... i also got rid of the V+ and picked up the Kinetix SSV manifold....

My question is how safe will my car be with the changes to the OEM cats and SSV on the current tune?

I would think you would be safe as long as you don't get into boost too much.

You will actually be running slightly lean above 5500 rpm's but not too bad with the SSV ... I went from the Crawford to the SSV and that is what I noticed from the 1st pull with the SSV on the dyno. You should be ok until you get a tune but be careful in the upper rpm band.

yeah but going from test pipes to stock cats, I'd think would easily negate the difference from a plenum to the SSV

the difference between stock cats and test pipes is pretty big as far as A/F go. Going back to stock cats when you're tuned for test pipes will make you like half a point richer. Going from the kinetix V4 to SSV, even if it makes you run lean up top or not, IMO I still think you'd overall run richer because you're going back to the stock cats at the same time

Do you at least have a wideband A/F so you can monitor it? The general "rule of thumb" advice here is good, but it is "general". Every car is different...

you dont need to "tune" your car if you are just getting different breathing components.

your car will run just fine. i drop the stock cats and running straight pipes 2:1 single exhaust. i also dumped the stupid cheezy filter the kit comes with and had some piping made to drop a "cold air" set up. My filter sits right under my driver head light. on top of that i have headers. with all the changes. the car was never re tuned and pulls harder than ever.

you should be finel. but if you do re tune you car let me know your numbers. your car and a few others on the board i follow.
