stock internals and supercharger Q's
Hello, newbie here with some questions. I went to the dealership the other day to drive a 6MT and fell in love with it. I've done some research on the aftermarket superchargers, stillen, procharger, Vortec etc. and need some input. How much can the stock internals of the engine and tranny handle? I don't want to go crazy, just want a little something extra, maybe an extra 80hp RWHP. Since the car(in my opinion) has sufficient low end power, I was thinking along the lines of a centrifugal s/c rather than the roots type by Stillen.
For you guys with s/chargers, was a computer recalibration necessary after installing it? Did you have it dyno tuned, have a chip burned or use a laptop?
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get the do's and dont's before I make a decision.
Thanks

Re: stock internals and supercharger Q's
I have the Vortech and yes I had custom programming of the piggyback ECU done. At the time my kit was installed, there was not G35 program so it was necessary to modify the 350z program to get good, safe gains. However, even now that there's a G35 specific Vortech kit I would recommend paying the money to have the SplitSecond device custom tuned, even though it costs an extra several hundred dollars.

Re: stock internals and supercharger Q's
Also, from all the posts I've read, our engines will need internal mods when horsepower exceeds 400. I am not sure if this is at the crank or to the wheels. Hopefully some of the other guys on this site can clarify for you, or you can check some of the recent posts concerning that topic.

Re: stock internals and supercharger Q's
If you want in between 300-320 just get a zex wet kit or a good e/a and some pulleys. As far as superchargers, they are made to run on the stock internals so you're fine. Get the vortech, and spend the extra bucks to have it tuned. You're already spending about 6 grand at least, what's the extra 500? Better to ensure saftey then to say bye bye to your car... and then what's left.. "frozen cookies" TEAR!!
