Got in a couple of 1/8 mile runs (w/ supercharger)
Lots of people have been asking for this so here goes:
In the last couple of days the warming of the weather has coincided with my car only having 1/3 tank of gas so I have been able to get a few freeway 1/8th mile runs in. My 6MT Sedan has the Vortech supercharger, high flow cats, and the Stillen exhaust. To take the measurements, I'm using the most sophisticated consumer-grade accelerometer I know of (the GTech Competition Pro).
Best two runs (1/8 mile only):
60ft: 2.187s
330ft: 5.704s
1/8mi: 8.519s @ 89.29 mph
0-60mph: 4.981s
60ft: 2.149s
330ft: 5.740s
1/8mi: 8.625s @ 87.78 mph
0-60mph: 5.171s
To validate these numbers, I really need to go to the track, but for now I have just found a quiet area of flat freeway with a very large shoulder.
Getting a good launch is hard--normally I either bog down or squeal the tires all the way to the top of 1st gear--but the warming up of the weather and the tires has helped. The probability of a reasonable launch is still only 1 in 3 or so and seems to work best when I rev to 1750rpms and simultaneously mash the gas and release the clutch.
I have two more mods (then I'm done--really--ok, almost done) which may positively affect 0-60 times and they are: JWT clutch/flywheel and lighter wheels with wider tires. The third would be to raise the rev limiter since the 60mph mark and the 1/8th mile mark come right at the shifts into 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Incidentally, when my car goes in the shop on Thursday to have the JWT combo installed I am going to do similar runs on the loaner car for comparison purposes and to sanity check the numbers somewhat. I'll post those results as well.

That's pretty quick considering a stock 6mt Coupe will run 9.1-9.2. I'm guessing a stock 6mt Sedan would run about the same.

Zimbo already has 360+ hp at the wheels. I don' t think we'll be able to extract anymore horsepower with bolt ons. Maybe a pully change? You thinking bout doing that ZImbo?
Also those are very impressive times, even more so with your 235 tires in the rear. I can't get NEAR those times with my 275's. When I floor 1st gear, it hops, when I power shift into 2nd, I do a burnout.

Dollar99--yeah the pulley change has crossed my mind especially now that a local shop has a copy of the R4 software. I also bought an SAFC-II which I would have to install in order to get a tighter pulley.
Hey, you have the GTech Competition Pro as well, right? Lemme know your email address and I'll send you a copy of some of my runs for comparison purposes--most times there is a serious dip in Gs in 1st gear representative of a lot of sliding around.
Also, are you using a 12" rollout? The rollout doesn't affect the 0-60mph time but it does affect all of the other measurements.
One thing I need to do as stated before is take some runs with a stock sedan to see if those numbers match the expected times (i.e. high 5s or low 6s to 60). Although I've gone out on four different days with very similar results each time and have carefully calibrated the GTech on more than one occasion, I can't be sure that the numbers are accurate--especially since you aren't getting good numbers. I think your car has more power than mine which might actually work against you during launch. But once you get traction I would expect your 1/8 mile times to be in the 8.5s range or even lower. Aren't they?

As for further bolt-ons I am pretty much done. I have (or will soon have) JWT flywheel, Crawford plenum, Kinetix high flow cats and Stillen exhaust. As mentioned earlier, I'm going to lighten the wheel weight, which likely won't affect HP numbers.
The "only" other things beyond that would be raising the rev limiter and increasing the boost of the Vortech by buying a smaller pulley. Those two mods would definitely increase HP numbers but would add an amount of risk to the setup. The higher-boost pulley would require larger injectors but likely would put the car into 400 rwhp territory.

Zimbo,
You have a Sedan correct?
Did you get the polished Vorech SC?
Are you in the East Coast? Want to also get SC and would like to find good installer for it.
thanks

Re: Got in a couple of 1/8 mile runs (w/ supercharger)
Cupid, both Dollar99 and I had our Vortechs installed in Charlotte. The shop there (see www.cprace.com) comes highly recommended, IMO.
I have the 6mt sedan, yes.

Zimbo,
I'm sure people asked you this before but, have you look at other SC before deciding to go with Vortech?
Pros and Cons of Vortech compared with other SC like Ati procharger?
thanks

Re: Got in a couple of 1/8 mile runs (w/ supercharger)
I like some of the aspects of the Vortech compared to the ATI (lower price, timing retard, somewhat quieter, better intake solution on the G35) but the fact is that if the ATI fit on the sedan (it doesn't) then either of the two would be completely workable with proper tuning.
I believe that the Vortech is still the only SC that fits on the sedan (and even so needs custom programming)--and, in fact, I am the only G35 sedan SC owner I know of.
If one or more of the current turbo kits had been out back in November when I was investigating this, I might have gone that route. Turbos are much more expensive to install but have better torque.
