Stillen Supercharger Nose Cone Pulley

Has anyone removed their Nose Cone Pulley before?

Any suggestions for removal. My nose cone was leaking and I picked up another nose cone from a friend's old setup that wasn't leaking... however his nose cone has a bad pulley on it... it has sharp edges and cuts a new belt in about a mile.

If anyone has removed the Pulley on the Nose cone shoot me a line on the easiest way to remove. Also, can it be removed while still on the car?

As always, thanks guys!

You will def need a pulley puller cause that thing is on there tight.

Have a pulley puller. Do you know if I would hurt anything and if it is possible to remove the pulley with an Impact wrench on the supercharger itself... (i.e. not removing the nose cone?)

Well, it came off pretty easy. Just held the pulley with one hand with gloves on and gave it a buzz with the impact wrench... Came right off...

swapped pulley's around and was done...

HOWEVER, the belts keep jumping off and tearing. Tore 3 belts in 3 miles. Tried tightening more and more. nothing worked. I have one belt left out of 5 belts in the last 24 hours and this has been frustrating.

Don't understand ... I wander if the NOSE cones are machined specifically for each unit and switching the cones switched the angles or something???

Even when I over tightened purposely... I figure it was worth a try with all the frustration this has been.

Any ideas why the belt keeps jumping off now?

Well, finally the parts came in and I rebuilt my old nose cone. I figure it was the extra cone I got was machined slightly different?? Anyhow, the parts were dirt cheap compared to a rebuild.

The seal was under $12. Bearings $12 each.

Installed back on the car and the belt still jumped?? Very strange as this was my original cone and drive that had no issues before. I was ready for the 6 rib upgrade at stillen to solve this issue so I said what the hell... I am going to play with this set up to see what's wrong.

After intense measuring, I noticed the top pulley was maybe 10-15 thousandth of an inch off... maybe a hair more. I also had 110 thousandth to work with take 50 thousandth off or so for heat expansion... so I could take as much as 60 thousandth of an inch off the pulley. I was told from Stillen that as little as 20 thousandth could cause belt jumping issues... I pulled the pulley off, set up the lathe and took 30 thousandth of an inch off the pulley. Rebolted the setup on and whoa... no more belt issues and no more oil leak with a newly rebuilt nose cone.

30 thousandth of an inch... still don't know why it shifted that much in the first place.... seeing how I did not disturb the plenum/intercooler or supercharger. Just removed the nose cone on and off.

Issue solved. If anyone needs helps with the parts to order for rebuild let me know. it was dirt cheap, took time to order or find, but was available with some patience.

I want to also thank Chuck at Stillen. He was instrumental in our conversations. I've got great support over the years at Stillen but I've read concerns lately. I still haven't noticed anything different when I called for assistance; same service I've had for years.
