Estimated times with 400HP?

After reading the post on the Dreamworks supercharger with approx. 400HP at the crank, I wondered what to expect from a performance point of view?

Specifically, 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

With stock tires, traction will be a problem. Assuming you can solve that problem I think you could expect to see 0-60 times in the just-under-5 second range and 1/4 mile times in the mid-to-high 12s.

With 235mm rear tires (sedan) I have not been able to break 2.1 seconds for the 60 foot time, so that's the limiting factor to a good 0-60 run.

Sounds like you need a set of 245/45R17 Falken Azenis. Unless you want to skip straight to DOT-R racing tires....

Wow

Zimbo, so what do you think I'll do with 400 WHEEL hp (490-510 crank HP)? Do you think 11's are in the cars?

BTW. Zimbo: this is kind of off-topic, but did you read my post on the rpm calibration on the Gtech forum thread that you posted. I have a good tip there that works for me!!!

Gurgen... I saw that and YES you are the man! I actually haven't had the chance to recalibrate the RPMs (which as you know would not affect the reported times but is great for monitoring other cool stuff)... but I'm going to do it tomorrow and take the car out for a few spins.

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

Hey Steve,

Cool! Try it out and see if it helps. I found that it's alot easier to calibrate the rpms whiile driving. You can set it to a low gear amd have the high rpms remain constant in cruise control (on teh freeway) and then go back up to higher gear and have the 2500 rpm point set.

But what do you think about the teims that I would get with 400 wheel HP (490-510 rank HP)?? Would love to know your opinion.

Gurgen, on drag radials you might break into the high 11s. Without them traction is going to be a HUGE problem no matter how wide your tires are

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

I just did a 12.60@115mph on my Kumho MX 275/40 tires.
I don't know how much hp I have but with the .073n & .046f jets on my ZEX it should be close to 380rwhp.
BTW 2.04/60ft and 8.3 at 1/8 mile.

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

Carlito, which aftermarket clutch are you using? If your using stock, I'd love to know when you spray. I went up to the shot you are going with, but couldn't get the clutch to stick. My goodyear f1 gs-d3's grab, but my clutch doesn't.

You are correct, mine also started sliping, went with JWT fly/clutch kit.

11's easily with a great driver. Racing is not as easy as people think. HP is not the main contributor. It's driver skill. Having said that you do need a certain amount of HP for a given weight vehicle to go said speed. But 400 whp is good for mid to high 11's, in a stock weighted G.

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

cool thanks

BUtI have an automatic, for me the only thing is to have a good launch. I am currently at 2.220 60' time, and that may improve a bit with the TT as the turbos are fully spooled up by 3K rpm.

Re: Estimated times with 400HP?

There are several guys on the my350z forum that are between 385 rwhp and 400 rwhp and none of them have broken 12 seconds even on slicks. 12.4 seconds is the best time I've seen reported. The Z is lighter than the G so I'd be really surprised to see mid 11s from the auto sedan without getting well up into the 425+ rwhp range. And even then it would need some serious slicks, IMO.
