Vortech SS box and computer

Did anyone else have a hard time getting the R-4 software on the computer and the SS box to talk when going through the tuning process?

Here is a short version of the story, car is at a tuner that is familiar with R-4 and its capabilities. First dyno of the car was the best, it put down 370rwhp and 330tq, but the A/F was around 13 across the board and started dropping around 5500.

At this point he tried to load a couple of different maps but none worked better, then we got to a point where the car wouldn't talk with the SS box and he had to keep restarting the R-4 software to make it change and there were several occasions where once changes were made, the car would bottom out on A/F on idle and just keep stumbling above 2K. I had a total of 11 dyno runs made but it was a real fight to get it to a good tuning state so I left the car there overnight so he could take a break and talk with Vortech in the morning and see if its something he's not doing that is causing so much conflict when trying to make changes in the map.

Thanks.

My first guess is to check connections with the R4 box, make sure it's getting power and all that. If I remember correctly, you do have to shut the car off to upload new maps right? And 370rwhp and 330tq with AFR of 13.0...YIKES!

Check for boost leaks/belt slip if the power drops/evens out at 5500rpm.

It did keep giving him fits today but he did figure out a method to update the fuel maps and then run it. Finally got it tuned to a safe level after 28 full dyno pulls and probably at least that many where it was shut down early and not recorded. Either way, its done and the final number is 404hp and 336 tq on a dynojet. Keep in mind that these are the corrected numbers for the altitude here which is 5K ASL and running the 3.12 pulley.
