Well, I've made my decision on something...

I don't know if this should be in the FI section, but the people that visit this forum are really the only ones that probably care what I'll be doing lol..

Anyway, I've been looking at doing a AT to MT swap, but I found out it was going to cost way more than I originally was estimated. I also was going to do a built auto, but thats still about 3-4k all said and done. So, a week ago the idea came to me from a few friends (iStan for one) about taking everything off of my car and getting rid of it, and getting a 06 6 speed as a trade in. Luckily, I have a few awesome friends that can help me take everything off, except the turbo manifolds which I'll have to pay to have done. Other than that, I'm really excited and I can't wait to get into the 6 speed. I'll have most of my mods put on except for the JWT kit, I'm going to wait until I can afford a built short block. I'll have it sitting in my garage for a while

I'll spend most of my time learning how to drive stick (I'm fairly new) on the track, as this is one of the main reasons I don't want the auto anymore. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know what I'll be doing.

I still have to figure out what my current problem is with the car running lean, as I still haven't check it out. Been too lazy, lol.

Wow, gutsy move!

I think you'll be more happy though once you finally get your MT. When I was searching for m G, I knew I wanted a manual (last three cars have been manual), but AT's were everywhere and so cheap, I almost broke down and bought one, but now I am super glad that I didn't. I'm loving my 6MT with the JWT twin turbo kit. So, if anyone is in an AT and really wants to be in a 6MT, go get your manual now before modding the AT! lol

I like the way my car feels being AT and turbo, but I guess thats just me.

I will probably go with a full tranny build.

The 6MT conversion is no joke cost wise. At least you'll have a rev up out of it.

Great move. You won't regret it. Driving an NA 6MT is fun... can't even imagine how fun a turbo'd 6MT would be.

Performance and Auto don't go together IMHO. Driving stick especially on a Track is just pure fun!! I want to drive my car and not let my car drive me I say since you are really dieing to get a MT then find the most cost effective way of achieving that route. There is no point of building your AT if you really want to drive a MT. You will end up regretting it in the end spending that $4K for a tranny that you lost passion with.

Now go figure if doing a straight swap to a MT is more cost effective than selling your car and getting a car that has a MT. You also have to worry about down time since selling car is not easy and you may have to wait a little. I say go MT and never look back especially if you have a performance car.

The auto is ok in a straight line and freeway runs. I can see canyons not being the most ideal place, and road racing.... I foresee limp mode from the transmission without much effort.

Here's an old video. 3.3FD converted to 3.7FD, GT25s and 22s yo!

Yep, that's my thinking exactly. I might trade in, since I then won't have to pay sales tax. Selling it would mean I owe a lot more with tax. My car will be stock within a few weeks I hope so I can bring it by the dealer to get an accurate quote, they also have to find me a black/black. It might take a while, but let's hope not too long.

Ahh boo hoo 6MT Haha JK, you're gonna have a blast, but i don't know why your 5AT bothers you that much! I'm a daily driver, bone out in the streets and never go to the track, do freeway driving, if i race, i drag straight, so therefore, automatic is fine with me, and I look at it differently, like ha ha you have to shift, I dont mwuahah. I just relax and punch it and go!!! But if i had a chance, of course I got 6mt, but I'm settle with a 5AT, and I'm not mad at all. Freeways are less stressful when there's traffic also. I can't wait till GTM gives me my car back, the shop I got my charger installed at BUSTED A VRT on me! Except VRT did it on purpose!!! Fvcking idiots! Ended up wasting 17k on my project where it should of been way less gRrRrRr.....
