Sorry to see that, makes me not want to hit boost when i drive my car.

Good luck with all of the repairs, and I hope to see your car running good with the stock motor.

Damn man that sucks. And I thought I had it bad!

That's some insane power for an SC though, 380 whp at 5200 RPM!?

We can probably estimate your top end power. Found an ATI dyno from my350z:

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...-1722-27-1.jpg

Assuming the curve shapes are similar, it looks they can be [crudely] modeled with a piece-wise linear function (2 pieces) - the first with an aggressive slope up to about 5200 RPM, the second piece with a less aggressive slope to redline. If you were hitting 380 whp at 5200 RPM, we can estimate a slope of about m1 = (380 - 0)/(5200 - 0) = 0.073077 for the first piece (the estimate cuts off portions of the curve, but it's not awful). Assuming similar characteristics to the 350z curve, looks the slope for the second piece of the curve (> 5200 RPM) is roughly 70% of the slope of the first piece. So m2 ~= (0.7)(0.073077) = 0.051154. Knowing the second slope and the first point of the second piece (380 whp, 5200 RPM), we can solve for the redline point:

m2 = 0.051154 = (x - 380)/(6600 - 5200)
x ~= 450 whp (@ 6600 RPM)

*This is just a crude model (assumes your curve is similar to the Z), but that's some pretty crazy power for an SC. If you really were hitting those kind of numbers, it may explain why the motor blew.

Man, I'm pulling everything I can out of my Vortech and I'm barely breaking 400 at the wheels at 6800 RPM with a raised redline.

Same thing happened to one of my buddies with a Turbo'd IS300. He shot a rod and the hole was pretty large too. It was a pretty big mess. Sorry to hear about that man. Makes me think twice about boosting the G too

How much timing did they add to your tune bc there must have been a reason why u're tune was only up to 5500 and not to redline. U're best bet is to do a tear down and see how the pistons looks (detonations, etc) to determine if it was a weak rod or a tunning issue. Hopefully your heads are okay so u don't have to buy a longblock. GL
Yeah I dont know..I want to get it pulled out and check everything but I dont have the tools or anything in my garage...I dont know about the timing really..I am sure it was conservative.

btw: was the tune conservative? i'm wondering about your timing also. what was your fuel setup like? oil level full too?
explain more what you mean by Fuel Setup..Oil level I am assuming it was full..I had just picked it up from the dealer after having the oil changed 5 days ago...I have a JWT Oil Pan spacer and told them that I needed an extra QT of oil...that was over the phone...did my service advisor tell the mechanic...I dont know....So if I only had 5 QTR's I would be starved for oil which would result in blowing the engine...

I didnt take it to redline to often....I would hit 5800-6200 when shifting...I am assuming it was at 5200 from talking to Cameron..I still never received any info on my tune afterwards....what were the final results or anything..I was told by jason what he thought my power was from the what he had heard around the shop...

Your tune was not conservative if you hit 380whp at 5200rpm.

thanks for the calculation..I was also running 10psi boost with a MD 1/2 Plenum Spacer, Topspeed headers, HFC's. and HKS HI-Power.

I could never get him to send me my graphs either, which is why I didn't go back to him for a retune. He promised to send them to me twice and never did. And I also asked Felix to check w/ Cameron as well...never got it.
