This thread is being watched by a bunch of guys now.. so to throw some guys back down to earth
Vortech kit will run you around $6,000-$7,000ish give or take depending if you're AT or MT etc.. and you'll be pushing around low-mid 300s hp.. want to mod it more to get into the 390-450 range you're looking at around $9,000 to +$10,000 depending on how far you want to go..
JWT TT kit will run you around $8,000 ish for the kit and around $10,000 out the door with some misc parts and if you want cams it'll be running you around $12,000 ish and the upgrades are endless after that...
If I do go TT I'll actually start working on a replacement built motor right away with a few thousand behind me incase something does happen.. if I go SC I'll keep around $5,000 to sit on just for the car..

i paid around 3 grand for my vortech full kit with 3.12 and 3.33 pulley and belts. after installing the s/c and clutch and flywheel, i paid speed force racing 500 to tune it. after 2 hours of tuning i was making 405.3 whp on pump gas. the power is awesome. and torque is there as well (348 ft lbs).
i would go vortech. very streetable. very reliable.

haha. i got it used from a member who is on here. got the whole kit. everything i needed for install minus the oil return for the s/c. so i went and got the right fittings and hose and made my own anyways. i think i paid about 3300 for the kit.

Just go Vortech Eric.........you won't regret it
After all the information known the only reason why I would go TT is to say, yeah man, I got a twin turbo g35 and watch the other persons face go
. But that can still be accomplish by having a SC.
California law is a b*tch also dude, not worth it, i had many friends that got fvcked over because of that non-carb exempt bullsh*t.

I sold my Vortech for the same price I paid for it which was 3400. I was pushing 440hp but only 330 trq at the time of sale.
I am sure I could produce more now if I went back as I have built the block and tranny but damn I do love trq

haha! Welcome to 5 years of back burner contemplation of my life.
I must 100% disagree with your "vortech=more mechanical parts" statement.
Not to bag on the TT guys at all, but here's something to consider:
Supercharger = belt driven. (And new V3 Si trim blowers DO have self contained oil if you don't even want to tap the pan at all). If the SC shreds a gear or breaks an oil seal, you spend an hour or two taking it off and send it back. If you must, you can still gimp around in your car. (I did this a few times with my old SC'd truck.)
TT: a million places for leaks: 2 Coolant inlets, 2 coolant outlets, two oil inlets, two oil outlets, two turbo to manifold seals, two turbo to downpipe seals. . .when your turbo dies, your downtime will be that much worse.
For me, I like the linear power delivery that seems like a steady "pressing" on the engine components, rather than the instant "hammering" of turbos.
But. . .it all depends on your preference still. Good luck to ya whatever you end up doing!

yeah if a turbo goes bad, you're not driving the car anytime soon
if a blower goes bad, you can still drive around while the blower is getting replaced.
IMO both the JWT and vortech and any FI kit are going to have their little issues that go wrong with them. Remember the vortech actually is a turbo, it's just driven by a belt

Great thread, co-incidentally I just got an estimate from AAM for an ATI procharger install. I see the Vortech is more popular. Good info Eric, I'm thinking SC for my X sedan. Want to quietly reach up as high as I can towards the 400s
Ive driven many of both. But I do have to say the JWT system is very impressive and very capable as proven by the fastest Time Attack 350Z in the country is using a JWT kit.
Power level, potential, and execution is very good in the JWT kit.

Have you looked at what Sam at GTM was able to do with an HKS supercharger?

Read about 8 posts down. The HP/TQ difference isn't very much, and I understand they're working on an 11 PSI pulley. Is your car manual? Hopefully they'll be posting up soon what results they were able to get out of the HKS kit with more work done to it, maybe a water/meth kit. I think its quite possible for them to get 450 out of the HKS kit, I'm hoping they're going to be able to do it, because thats what I'm looking at.
I'm not looking for 450hp though, I'd be happy around 400 and their 9psi pulley.
