Performance Radiator or Oil cooler more important for FI

If you guys could only do one of these cooling mods for a future FI setup, would you do an aftermarket radiator or an external oil cooler? The price difference is negligible.

normal use stock block FI wont need either.

wouldnt waste the money unless you had data logs showing you needed either.

I still need to decide on a radiator, I need one bad.

In Vegas and with any hard driving I see 220+ temps. I just don't know what to get for the G, since there isn't a specific one. I'm thinking of the fat koyo and fans, but I need to know what custom fab it needs.

With my drop-in ARC radiator, ARC t-stat, and upgraded oil pan, my G sees street engine coolant temps of ~165, even after repeated wot runs!

only mod needed for the Koyo is the filler spout needs to be moved from the driver side to the passanger side. unless you want to run a longer hose.

Both mods would help greatly but are not a must. but if you do it go with a radiator... you can always get a bigger oil pan and the extra quart you get will help cool

i have a phat asz stillen radiator for a peace of mind. Cali's getting pretty friggin hawt.. I would recommend the oil cooler first.

Stillen was one of the ones I was looking at, because they have a drop in for the G35C. Were you able to get coolant temp readings from before and after the install?

I have a PWR Radiator with GTM Dual 14' Custom Fans Running a b&m external oil cooler and a tranny cooler too, works out all perfect I suggest you get that Radiator and get a oil cooler too, both. If your 5AT then definitely get a tranny cooler before any of it!

yah...I called and talked to sam about radiators. I'm leaning toward the PWR. I'm 6mt so I'll just spend that money on an oil cooler.

Where did you get the B&M oil cooler kit? Or did you piece it together? What size core did you get for the engine oil cooler?

unless you plan on running high boost (14psi+) you dont need either, just get an oil pan spacer and throw an extra quart of oil and you're good

Weird, I post this in my 350z....most people tell me to do both because you can't ever have too much cooling on an FI car. Here I have a few people telling me I don't need either.

no, unfortunately. I really need a water temp gauge

that's crazy talk. oil pan spacer is the last thing you need. cooling is way higher priority than having extra oil. people should change oil often anyways. I only put 5 qt of oil on my larger capacity APS oil pan.

+1 you can never have too much cooling, so why not have it? I mean unless personally you're on a budget, but if you have the money for it etc. Get it!! I spent more money on safety then anything else The amount of money I put in people would say why wont you have this much power, i built it for life reliable or at least surviving longer then others , for my peace of mind also.

say what? You have installed a APS oil pan that allows for an extra qrt of oil, and you are only putting in 5 qrts of oil instead of 6? Y did you buy the oil pan in the first place?

An extra qrt of oil will help engine longevity and will help cool. An oil pan allows this. An oil cooler will help this more, and will usually add 1-1.5 qrts. of oil.
