400 hp isn't an unachievable goal, like you said, there are many stock block 400hp cars. That link I gave you will provide you with plenty of information.

besides the stonger internals (rods, pistons, crank..) you should upgrade the fuel system, ignition, intake, and exhaust. Gauges such as boost, air/fuel, exhaust gas temp are very handy. Also, datalogging equipment would be very valuable. Search around and make a shopping list.

Search the the boards here and over on My350z.com. Boost is a whole other world with these cars.

Don't be fooled- there is no one nice, or informative on the 350z boards.

I'd shoot for a 400-600 wheel horsepower goal. And I'd stay away from single turbos for that (at least the turbonetics one). Anymore horsepower is just a dyno queen.

And express has nothing better than to troll newbies threads- get used to that as well.

Some of the guys there can be harsh, especially for noobs who post questions that have already been answered over and over, as well as being posted in the stickies. Nonetheless, there is a wealth of good information to be found there (as well as some bad advice), but you have to take the time to do the research before posting questions. Even though the search function isn't the greatest, it will suffice if you have enough patience.

I would not recommend going over about 400 - 430 hp with stock internals. The stock rods won't take it for long. This is good to review:

If you want more than about 400-430 hp, you should start by getting a built short block or long block.

I agree with this. The majority of people going FI with G35s/350Zs seem to favor twin turbos over a single turbo for street use, although a minority still favor a single turbo. As for me, I went with twin Greddys and a built motor.

400 is not unreasonable at all. Just expensive.

It's all relative. A Greddy Twin Turbo Kit, exhaust system, and good EMS should get you there. It's still cheaper than trading the G in for a new car with 400 RWHP. With my build I went a little overboard, but d*mn I love my car.

it all depends on how much power your want, you said you want around 400rwhp which is pretty easy to get w/ a turbo kit and a stock block

now, here lies the problem. 90% of people who say they want 400rwhp, once they get use to that power want more. I'm one of those people, i said anything btwn 370-400 would be enough and guess what, is not

so it really depends on you, if you think you might be a part of the 90% then build the motor first and then get what ever kit you want, it will save you money in the long run, trust me

def spend a lot of time on my350z, there is way more info there than here
