Built Motor Break-In

Built Motor Break-In
Anyone know anything about breaking in a new, fresh built longblock.
My tuner said stay off of boots for about a thousand miles, vary RPMs, etc, etc. I also read a lot about various things:
1. Vary the RPMs and loads
2. Don't drive for more than 30 minutes at a time . .
3. Warm the car up for 15 minutes every time you start i . .
Some of the more "controversial" stuff I read has been:
1. Drive like you stole it (which I've been told NOT to do so I'm not gonna)
2. Drive relatively hard varying the RPMs to seat the pistons in . . or something?
Any tips would be cool.
Thanks

What exactly needs breaking in? On a motor with a hydraulic cam or solid cam we do a break-in on the dyno of varing the rpms for about 15-20 mins, change the oil and then we start making pulls. On a roller motor, we get it up to operating temp, change the oil and then beat the hell out of it.
I dont know what type of cams are in these motors, but I would assume a good break in of varying rpms for a good 20-30 mins, change the oil, then have at it. But this is ONLY my opinion and previous experience with domestic v8's.... street, marine and all out race engines.

dude dont trip just normal everyday driving dont be afraid to get the rpms up there 4k 5k just dont got WOT to get there. onlything your doing it for is for all the rings and valves to set and become one with the motor.
then at like 1000-1500 miles change the oil and tune it and go rape it
welcome to the darkside wish you the best dont let it get to you if you have any problems its only normal

i would definitely change the oil about 2 or 3 times before 1000 miles

Do EXACTLY what the tuner says to do. They know the engine better then you and I'm sure have built numerous VQ's. At the end of the day if anything goes wrong within the next couple thousand miles, guess who will be inspecting it? Do you know what they will say if they find out you didn't follow their instructions on the break in? That's right... it's all on you and they won't help you out.
