Well for starters let me apologize for posting this in the wrong forum, just found the engine forums. As to your question, i ask this because i am trying to figure out what steps i want to take when the mod bug hits.(sort of kind of a tight budget) thanks

Must agree with TwilightBlue

320 WHP from Naturally Aspirated gear = many dollars

400 WHP from FI = same dollars but easier.

There is no such thing as a "tight budget" with a VQ motor.

if you want to turbo/super charger and do it right, look at spending 8-10K on kit and a tune, and that's with NO internal motor work.

Sound Performance here in Chicago is pushing over 1000 whp on a stock trans in their 350Z. They ended up shearing the input shaft while trying to launch it with slicks though. http://www.chicagoz.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14974

The transmission is stout. Good triple disc carbon clutch, and she'll hold 800whp+

transimission will be the last thing you worry bout, just upgrade to a JWT clutch/flywheel and 400rwhp will be no problem for the transmission

360ish is probably an easier obtainable goal. i'm not sure why everyone's saying you need 10 grand to make a motor that powerful.... i've seen a vortech kit go for 2500 brand new from one of the vendors. install should be 1000-1500. tuning another 1000. so that's a bout 5 grand.

Sub 400whp definately does not need a built motor.
On a budget, I think a Vortech Tuner kit with UTEC injectors, pump, and tuning would be perfect. Very safe too. Under $8K installed and tuned.
