Why no Whipples or similar superchargers?

The Stillen SC kit uses an Eaton M90 correct? This is the same SC that Pontiac Grand Prix's use and I remember the days when people would have to fight hard to get 350-400whp out of the M90's ( and I'm talking about going all out for it ). Then someone decided to slap on a Whipple SC and made over 500whp with about the same torque numbers with half the mods needed to make 400whp on the M90. Needless to say, it was down right sick.

The VQ is a FARRRR more efficient engine than the L67/L32 ( the GM 3800 SC engine codes ) is yet Stillen chose one of the most inefficient SC there is.

So the question is...why no Whipple or similar? I see no problem with a whipple making well over 600whp in a VQ with mostrous low end torque.

I thought the Stillen was a M62 unit.

Well, the Stillen doesn't make much over 350 to the wheel. I'm pretty sure it is the 62, been a while since I discussed the Stillen. Info has been filed away in brain. hahahha

I did some research and you are right..they use the M62 which is even more sad. WTF?

Either way...me question is wondering why no-one has done a whipple setup.

No faith, I think the heat exchanger is near max as is it's a very thin core. A whipple or a M90 may be better on paper, but the kit itself may already be at capacity. Whipples compress the air vs the blowing the air, is this compression of the air going to be a heat issue with the current manifold?

While whipples create more heat off boost ( since they will always be compressing air inside the unit even though it's being bypassed while the M62/M90 doesn't ) it's quite the opposite at boost. The Whipple's boost with no intercooler is comparable to the eaton's WITH intercooler. Thus why a whipple with intercooler creates turbo like power with huge low end torque.

Give it a shot. I know some FX guys that would probably like an upgrade of the unit. FXs don't have hood clearance issues like the G/Z so they could run a different blower, but a G/Z dude would probably need to do the grunt work of the changes.

I've had the Stillen, GT25 TT, GT28 TT, now GT30 TT.

Just get a TT. hahahaha

I wish I had the tools to fabricate...I'd try this in a heatbeat.

The stillen is a m62 unit and it is to small to make any decent power for this engine.

I'm sure most people won't mind a power dome like the BMW M3 has though.
