Report the results after you change the temp sensor, I want to know how effective the cooler is.

Well I got it done in one afternoon. Had to run longer lines. Phew! Not too bad but a PITA moving stuff around and then checking/filling ATF levels. Barely got that 12" x 11" x 1.5" core to fit - almost exactly twice the size of my previous cooler (80264). Had to move the horns, some wiring, and the oil cooler hoses out of the way. Drained about 5 qts (car on ramps so that helped) and had to fill 6 qts (presumably because of extra cooler volume). I think I've probably got 12 qts of fluid capacity at this point. The kit that came with the trans cooler had way more stuff than I needed. Lots of spare parts, brackets, fittings, etc.

Gave it a quick spin and temps didn't get past 170 degF , but it was evening. Will give it a whirl and report back after some hard runs during the day...

EDIT: Ok, gave it a good workout this morning on the twisty back roads here in NC, shifting 2-3-4 and 4-3-2 over and over, all in boost. Got it up to 188 max. Keep in mind that my temp sensor used to be after the torque converter and before the cooler, so honestly I can't say with certainty that this cooler is better than my last since I never previously sampled temps after the cooler (I can't imagine that my old cooler was bringing 290 deg F temps back to normal operating range though). This one seems to be doing a fine job though.

I said something similar. That was the temp of the fluid leaving my torque converter, but hopefully not what my trans was seeing. It dropped back under 250 in just a couple minutes when I let off. I did not get a CEL or drop into limp mode.

For those considering this, I would recommend a 12" x 10" x 1.5" core for easier install if you can find it. Even a 13" tall would work - it's the width that is tight. It would've been cake if not for that extra inch width but I don't see many tanks that are narrower than 12" (plenty of short ones but that doesn't really help). I mounted on the passenger side with the hose connections at the top. You can secure the bottom of the cooler with one of the bolt receptacles on the main front housing and then you have to angle the top forward a little bit to leave room for the AC cylinder on the far left and the air bag sensor bracket in the middle.

EDIT: I gave the car a good work out on the highway on the way back, shifting and what not just for the heck of it. I could not get temps over 180. When I came to a stop with no airflow it went up to 187 and then started coming back down again. This is about a 30-50 degree F difference at least compared to my prior trans cooler. It does take a tad bit longer to warm up (it is a low pressure drop cooler, which is supposed to bypass for the most part when cold).

I need to get a trans temp soon. I'm curious what mine will be. I have roughly the same size cooler. It's the largest BMM cooler. It's 11 x 11 x 1 1/2 if I remember. For anyone considering it, it fits perfectly on the drivers side of the car mounted in front of the radiator. I'll post pics next time I have my bumper off.

Thanks for posting your results Raj. I hope my temps are the same and are good on the track.

Yeah, I want to add 5 more gauges- But a 6MT is now top on my list.

I wish I knew what I was running mine at. I'm pretty sure my TQ converter is about to take a ****... Anyone know if the stock one can hold 420wheel torque?

Raj, is there a way to hook up a temp sensor to read the tranny temp to the FCon so that I can read it off the Navigator, I don't want to install a single gauge in my car.

I'm not sure about the Navigator or CAMP2 for auxilliary sensors, but I bet there's a way (I don't use the FCON). George@GTM might be able to help you out with that question.

Unfortuantely, HKS no longer makes gauges. I have all of the HKS sensors I need, but right now I can only view the data using the navagator. At some point I will be moving to a CAMP 2. In fact, I bought a used pop-up display to use to display the CAMP 2 information because I didn't order the navigation system when I bought my car.

This #4590 Tru cool trans cooler is the ticket. Got it up past 200 degF today for the first time, boosting on the highway and then getting stuck in stop and go traffic for a half hour in 95 degF ambient conditions, AC on full blast. Max temp 205. My 70264 B&M would've easily been in the 240-250s.

Good to hear. I'm confident my 11 x 11 x 1 1/2 will be just as good then
