I have a Stillen S/C ??

I recently got my Stillen Supercharger installed. I have one question though, can i install the Unorthodox Racing pulleys and still benefit from them with F/I ???
Im thinking about installing the Stage 3 pulley and the U/R pulleys all at the same time.
Anyone know if i can accomplish this, or is it pointless?

on a centrifugal app., the pulley kit will actually decrease the boost creation....

on your (badass, btw) eaton-roots type, the boost is developed differently.....

im not sure, but i think the pulleys MIGHT be of use....

interested to see what the outcome is JTG!

Jim,

There are threads here that discuss the whole pulley subject...don't do it. You'll damage your crank bearings (possibly)...it's not worth the 5% increase of power they are claiming....just my opinion, now I'll go back into my whole.

, thanks for the input.

unless your just trying to hold a brother back from getting more gains =)

Re: I have a Stillen S/C ??

An underdrive crank pulley (smaller) than OEM diameter should not be used with any belt driven SC on a VQ35. It will reduce boost significantly and the only other way to gain some of the boost back would be a (smaller pulley) on the SC. Too "small" a pulley on the SC drive causes increase belt wear and loss of pulley contact area, hence more prone to belt slippage. So, use the OEM crank pulley if you have either roots , or cent SC.

Re: I have a Stillen S/C ??

he's right, I don't think I would mess the pulley on an S/C setup - I would just go for the smaller pulley to increase the boost - I would take the money you were going to spend and put it towards a fund for a good set of headers and cams (Crawford Headers and JWT cams, IMO) - these will provide substantial gains on any S/C setup and would be great for the across-the-board gains you are already experiencing w/ the Roots-type S/C - good luck and enjoy that area under the curve!

I'd never to that. Do a search on pulley upgrades...I was gonna to the UR racing pulley upgrade b4 I read that.

Re: I have a Stillen S/C ??

You CAN NOT use an underdrive crank pulley with the Stillen blower. An underdrive crank pulley makes horsepower by underdriving the accessories (slowing them down) to leave more power for driving. If you use this is will also underdrive (slow down) your supercharger, thus creating less boost (if any). Your car will be much slower, don't do it.
However, you can use the accesory pulley's (alt., water pump, etc.) for looks. They wont really give you any gain.

As for the crank pulley destroying crank bearings, this is somewhat true. On older engines, factory crank pulley's had a vibration dampener built in to reduce engine vibration transmitting to the crank bearings. Without this dampener (like on an aftermarket lightweight pully) the vibration would transmit to the crank bearings, wearing them out much faster. Newer engines are built much better and smoother than years ago and many cars don't have these dampener pulleys anymore. So for the N/A cars this is a good upgrade.

As for adding headers to the Stillen supercharger system...
another bad idea. Theoretically, relieving backpressure sounds like a good way to make more power, BUT it is that very backpressure that helps the blower to make boost. If you add headers you will lose about 1 psi of boost.
So you can add headers that make about 10HP and lose 1PSI of boost, thus losing about 10HP. So you would notice no difference, except less money in your pocket.

I hope that this wasn't too much at once.
