Oh ok...so technically, the trans is able to save itself from being nuked if placed in that situation.

So why would some trans fail even if folks have put valve body kits and coolers?

Assuming people pull over when the failsafe mode kicks in one would think the car's capable of warning the driver when they've pushed the 5AT too far.

I think I've seen at least one thread with someone saying they nuked their trans after a vb and cooler were added (don't quote me on that yet...let me see if I can dig it up)

But basically for your car Canadian, you at least had the chance to be for warned of any trouble then react appropriately. Has it ever done this during normal daily driving?

The stock trans fails because the clutch packs won't be able to take much over a certain power level. If you're pushing with 350whp/tq you should be fine with a VB and cooler. I doubt many trans have failed at that power level. Over time though, it may happen.

That's probably the best and most clear explaination for why our cars need these specific upgraded components after adding forced induction.

Thanks Canadian. You know I'm going to ask you more questions as time permits.

No worries, I'll help with whatever I can. You can also check out my trans build thread if you want.

Thanks bro. I'm going through that thread as we speak. I noticed you also have the Fast Intentions cat back like me!

Do you have any sound clips of your car with your current TT setup running with your FI exhaust?

Right now I'm running my exhaust with Berk HFCs and MD 5/16" ISO spacer and love it. It sounds very mean and I always get complements.

However, I'm not sure how it would sound once turbos are added. I hear it may quiet down some or sound different. Can I hear what yours sounds like?

I'd hate to have to change the exhaust too bc I didn't like the sound once I added boost.
