It's a newer engine with a built motor and turbo boosting 25-30psi! It's yellow with a hard top. Sick fast, 440whp.

So you're making the blower run at 11psi, but you're only boosting 1,5psi above? Sure it's 1,5psi higher but have you considered that you're making the blower work so much harder and also that you're superheated the air by your little project?

Re: Now running 11psi pulley on Vortech

Yes the blower is running 11psi, but it's rating is to 20psi. The weak link is the intercooler and since I'm bleeding boost off before the intercooler it isn't heating the intercooler up drastically. My 1.5 psi increase is under 9psi where the intercooler doesn't know it's getting more air, the engine just gets the air at an earlier rpm. I believe you're correct that the air at redline is probably hotter now, but really how much. Also a benefit of what I did was removed a pipe with 3 or 4 bends and replace it with a pipe with one soft 45 degree bend. This also shorted the distance the pipe has to hold a charge which could offset the added heat. Thoughts???

Interesting... I had this idea of using a wastegate ona SC to bleeed off boost in mind for a long time, but didnt have the guts to use it because of all what the guys said on our forums.... They said when the SC is working for 11psi and you are bleeding 2psi u are wasting power from losing the boost and working the SC harder since it moves by belts. Did u ever dyno the car before and after? That would be a proof for people who doubt this idea.

Re: Now running 11psi pulley on Vortech

Did u ever get a dyno run before you did this setup? That would be helpful to see how much u gained under the curve with this setup and whats the difference in the topend between the two since u are running the same amount of boost.

Re: Now running 11psi pulley on Vortech

Yes but I didn't finish tuning on a dyno. I dyno'd at 351 rwhp with a sub 11:1 A/F ratio. I did some tuning at the track and managed to squeeze .3 better in the 1/4 after getting the fuel right. Now I've dropped another .2 in the 1/4 to 13.06 with the 11psi pulley. I estimate 390 hp and 360 max torque. Just an estimate. I'm dyno'ing on the 30th.
