turbonetics kit on a 2005 revup

well i just got done installing the turbonetics kit on my 2005 rev up coupe 6mt. for the most part everything seem to go in pretty smooth except for the inter-cooler piping where they had brackets for the lower pipe to mount to the alternator. i mounted all the pipes in the locations specified and nothing lined up at all? a good 2-3" gap between pipes. well after messing with it for what seemed like days i decided to cut the brackets and mount everything. also had issue with the maf coupler kept blowing off. called turbonetics and found out it is not suppose to fit the rev up engine.

im just wondering if anyone else had this issue with there kit on a rev up engine.

They are known for poor fitment.

yeah the shop its at now had to make me a new lower pipe to fit and a new upper pipe to have the maf be in a metal housing and have the upper pipe be all one piece. eliminates more clamps and possible pipe separation.

on a plus note it hit 350hp before the piping blew off. its still in the tuning stages. boosting 7psi. hope to hit at least 380.

Be careful there are tons of threads on my350z.com of guys (I know 2 local guys) that tried to push the Turbonetics and ended up with blown motors.

well not being conceited at all....all im saying is that im not worried....whats the big deal in that? i have had 2 built engines before, this is not my first project car, im not new to forced induction. a lot of people who do blow their motors usually do it when they are stomping on the gas pedal and being stupid. imo the deserve to have a blown motor. i simply got this kit because i missed the sound of the turbo. and im sure people are gonna say why didnt you get an evo or a sti. well its because they got four doors and they are ugly to me.

my question here was is anyone had and fitment issues for their rev up g35.

The turbonetics kit gets EXTREMELY HOT too. Its not the best kit out there. If you got it for dirt cheap id say use it, if not get the powerlabs 35r kit. But its already installed so just go with it.

And OP... "I'm not worried" comes off as sounded a little conceited. I think I would still read some over at My350z to find out what goes wrong with this kit when you push it as to be sure you are not the next. How do you know one of the guys that blew their engine wasn't at 6psi and an Osiris tune?
Tuning is the culprit with these blowouts more often than not or component failure outside the turbo kit (injectors for example).

Aside from hotter air intake temperatures what makes you think that a turbo kit itself could result in a blown motor?

I have a Turbonectics kit and the turbo itself is what failed. It overheated and the seals went out. Not once, not twice, not three times, but four times total over 5 months this year. The kit itself needed some mods to fit to answer your questions. I have since went with a Garrett T3/60-1 instead of the Turbonectics model.

Here are my threads on it.

Hope these help and if you have any questions, please PM or ask me!
