Ok, i've read and read and read all the information on our motors and forced induction and how the rods bend and snap at anything over about 400 to the wheels for about a year now.

However, lately I've been hearing stories of guys with stock block Zs and Gs making 450 whp 470 whp 520 whp and even 570 whp for longer than 6 months the longest I heard was a year and a half now.

My first thought was BS! or I asked if they were running methanol to help with possible detonation issues but they were not.

Many people have said Z1 is the one popping out these stock block monsters but I was just wondering if these are fairytales or if someone on here is making that much power reliably.

I only ask because I will be getting retuned for more power and personally the more power the better, and sure if the motor blows I'll grab a built one but I'd rather not have to do that for a while .

I make 589whp and 609ft/lbs on a 100% stock engine for over a season now, and red35 has the same tuner and he made 475whp unsure of his torque for about two years. He is currently at the shop getting a retune looking for more power. Mine could blow up any day and I am well aware of that and every time I go WOT i expect it to blow up The tuner is a major factor when making that kind of power and you are playing russian roulette. Also if you spin a bearing and the material gets through out the oil system it could wipe out your turbos, heads and other parts you want to reuse if you're building an engine.

Anything of 400whp/400ft/lbs(torque is more stress than the HP) you are rolling the dice IMO.

Like Sylvan mentioned i was at 450whp in 08 then to 475whp for the last two years. I am now looking for some more hp from my stock motor. I have a lot of supporting mods to go with it but the tune is the key in the end.

You have to be aware it can go at any time but that is the chance you take when pushing a stock motor.

Depends on how you drive as well. Ive seen stock blocks blow at 350 and ive seen some that are pushing 550-600 and hold. So its a lot of different factors that play into it.

Driving is a huge factor, if I never fit full boost my engine would last a long time. However I race a fair bit and it does hit full boost every time I drive it. I am about to reassemble my 3.8L and get it back in because I doubt I will make it another full season I even thought I popped a head gasket the other day when I took a friend for a ride. But it seems alright for for now.
