bigc... how much more of a gain is the 3.12 over the 3.33? ive also heard the cog pulleys effect the boost? right now i believe the set up is the 3.33 with the cog pulleys being 34/32 and im only at 5psi... just curios to what pulley set up would put me around 10 - 12 psi.

The 2.87 pulley would. But I'd be more concerned about how much power you make, rather than boost

my final number on the dynojet was 336 with 5psi. the modifications are there to support more power, just trying to find a way to get a little more out of it.

What are your power goals? Smaller pulley, shorter belt, and a retune will net you more power.

just shy of 400 would be nice. id be happy with around 380. the problem is doing this myself with kind of a basic concept and not knowing all the values that effect these things. i almost bought a smaller pulley until i was told it was useless to do so because of the cog pulleys. if you have any suggestions id be more than happy to apply them

Dropped the G off at ZCG yesterday. Hopefully everything goes well and I should have my car back by next week. Updates to follow!

Pre-install dyno run 244HP/237TQ

The stock car dyno'd at 227/219, 5/16 MD install 230/222, Ark v2 dual exhaust bumped it too 244/237. I'm hoping to pull more out of these mods once the vortech and custom tune is done. I'm getting a hard-on!! lol

Looks like I’m going to have to settle for the V2 version of the vortech if I want the si-trim blower. Something about the configuration between the V2 & V3.

After some research there is not much of a difference between the V2 & V3 systems beside self contain oil in the V3 and the extra labor involved for the V2 for the install of the return lines and tapping of oil block. Rob made this easier by not charging me the extra labor for the V2 install. He also wants to start out with the 3.33 so I agreed to it. We can always upgrade and retune.

Your thoughts on the V2 vs V3... I know this is kind of irrelevant now that I told Rob to continue with the V2.

^Back when I was considering a vortech I ran into this choice dilemna and upon my research I concluded that perhaps the V2 is better. For the following reasons.

-There are many reports of oil overheating when the V2 is used and an oil cooler is always added to remedy this. You also cool the engine on top of that.
-The HKS SC kit for our car that uses it's own special oil comes with an oil cooler by default. Not entirely convinced why the v3 doesn't need one.
-The V3 oil is expensive to change but with the V2 when you change your engine oil you also change the charger oil.
-You can use your set of oil gauges (temp & pressure) to monitor both the engine and charger.
-It's impossible to check the oil level on the v3 once it is installed in our car. I'm not sure if you are paranoid like me but for me i always like to check the basic vital signs on my car.
-The only benefit from the V3 that I could find is the quieter operation.

I'm sure somewhat with actual first hand experience can chime in, but that is what i was able to dig up on my350z and here. HTH.

From what I've read, the only difference is the labor for the oil return lines, as you said. It's also easier to keep track of oil changes with the V2 since it's all done at the same time as engine oil, versus changing the engine oil at a certain mileage and then changing the V3 blower oil at a different time.

I have the V3 myself.

Makes sense guys. Thanks for your input.

Just a little update:

Car still at ZCG.

I just added a set of Tein Comfort CS coilovers with EDFC controller, SPC camber front and rear camber kit, and an Oil pressure gauge to my order. Waiting on parts. Build coming along hopefully it will be done this week or no later than next.

I will keep you all posted.
