G35 Greddy TT Project Questions
#47
Well, its being some time since my last post. After searching and reading comments and very helpfull tips from people here (ALSO saving some money for doing it right the first time) project has come to this so far:
-Wiseco Pistons 8-8-1 95.5mm
-Eagle Rods
-UTEC
-Aeromotive 340 Fuel Pump
-VQ35 HKS Gaskets
-Complete ACL Bearings Kit (cranshaft and flywheel)
-VQ35 Complete Engine Gasket Set
-Supertech Block Guards
-Original VQ35 Water Pump
-Rev-up Oil Pump
-VQ35 Timing Kit
-Mishimoto Thermostat
-OBX Fuel Rails
-RC 650cc injectors
-ARP Head and Main Studs
-ACT clutch (6 pudge)
-Pathfinder Cooling Mod
-Greddy Profec B Spec 2 Boost Controller
-Greddy Full Auto Timer
-Mishimoto Radiator
-Mishimoto Radiator Hose Kit
-AEM wideband, boost and oil preassure gauges
I also bought an used engine (32K miles) that have 1 bad rod (took some water from the intake) for $150 because the person don't want to open it and repair it. My mechanic open it and check it, and everything looks ok. Everything but one rod, the cranshaft was sended to measure and check and was fine. The block was honed fine, heads where cleaned and worked at the machine shop. I also buy a OEM used (like new) Flywheel on ebay.
Turbo manifolds has been heat wraped.
Everything was sended to be balanced. In 2 weeks assambling should start.
Before that, I apreciated once again your comments and opinion on this built.
Thanks!
I'm trying tu upload some photos that I took with my Iphone but can't
Seems they are bigger size.

Ditch the UTEC ASAP. Stick with Uprev + GT MAF, or Haltech if you have some extra cash and want all the bells and whistles. This is coming from a long time UTEC user tired of limp mode, misfiring and blown coil packs. Switched to Uprev after 2 years and never looking back...drives like a new car again and no more carrying spare coil packs in the trunk haha. A mid-a local thought he could keep is UTEC after building his engine (greddy 20G, stock engine went due to oil consumption) and ended up switching to Haltech due to gross misfire over 500whp. The spark signal is just too weak for anything more than stock boost, and eventually burns out the coils. Biggest POS, makes me cringe when people consider these things when stuff like Uprev is now very prominent. The only reason I used it back in the day is that Uprev wasn't an option.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I got the Utec with the kit, never heard about Uprev, was thinking Haltech (2 friends already used it).
What about the build?

Uprev is the ##ish unless you're going for a crazy race car build. I'm tuned on it, 406whp stock block, 515whp built block, 570whp better built block, love it. Buddy of mine just finished a 690whp 4.07L stroker TT build tuned only on Osiris as well, alot more cost effective than a haltech as well if you live near a competent tuner

My goal is 450-500WHP....Is realy the Utec useless for my goal? Is the build right for my goal?
Sorry if I sound noob, but I am
First car on FI, and lot of $$$ (in my case) invested. I want to do it right since the begining!
Apreciate your time and suggestions.

Good luck man excited for the results! The tuning all depends on how much extra cash you have laying around, with each tuning solution (Utec, osiris, haltech) there's the initial unit cost (haltech ALOT, Osiris $300 for the license and $350 for the aftermarket MAF for over 400whp, Utec free since you already have it) and then the additional tuning cost that you'll have to pay to the tuner no matter which one you choose, and if you choose to get a tune on one and then switch to another one at a later date you will have to start from scratch. So it makes more sense financially to spend a few extra bucks up front on the right tuning solution that you'll use for the life of your build, rather than trying to get it done as cheap as possible right now and then eating another tune ($600-1000?) later on when you decide to switch to a different EMS.
That being said if you do decide to go with Uprev PM me, I know a guy with a brand new MAF GT that you could probably get for a little cheaper than retail
