getting boosted

Hey guys. So I'm finally going to be boosted. I have waited a whole 2 months lol. So I've had my 07 g35 6mt brilliant silver now for 3 months. In those short 3 months I've added 20s all around. 20x8.5 in the front with 245/30 and 20x10 with 275/35 in the rear. I also have added a 25mm spacer in the rear. I did the dd conversion with the Jdm kit and dual ac control. I also added 2 12. Hks exhaust. Nismo CAI. 12k hid. Blacked out grill and emblems all around. Got 15 percent tint in the front and 5 percent front strip, sunroof, and rear windows.

When I got my car it was completely stock except for a plenum spacer that I just noticed yesterday when I was scoping out my engine bay

So this is my plan....

I picked up a used turbonetics kit with a brand new, newer turbonetics turbo water and oil cooled. I know that some people have had bad luck with this kit but 90 percent of them were caused by install errors. So I'm taking a few precautions to better insure my cars safety such as stainless steel braided clutch line, lots of heat wrap, Im going to water cool my turbo and most important I'm going to have stainless steel braided Teflon ac lines. They will be completely moved out of the way of the down pipe and turbo

This is a list of my kit
1. The tn kit.*
2. Dw 600cc
3. Walbro 255*
4. NGk step 1 cold plugs lfr6aix 11
5. Hks turbo timer
6. Defi boost, aem uego
7. Osiris up rev
8. maf gt
9. Ac line relocation
10. Clutch line relocation
11. perrin steering wheel gauge pod

i work full time at a hospital and also go to school. i havent had much time to work on my car. yesterday finally got some time in and did my walbro and my spark plugs. to my surprise the person who owned the car had the same plugs in the car. and i had no oil problems at all, all the plugs were clean.

i have 4 friends helping me on the car so it can be done by Saturday, so we can go to import face off sunday. im doing the tear down all the way up to the radiator and pan spacer on friday. i will also have the uego and the hks timer installed.

so the plan for saturday is work a good 5 or 6 straight hours and finish the build. i also bought a replacement turbine seal and housing seal so i will do those before the turbo gets thrown on for peace of mind. and im glad that i bought the water line kit for added protection.

does anyone have any pointers as far as the install???

the only thing im not doing is adding the injectors until i get to my tuner which will be next weekend. im going to Zfever in tampa and they are charging me 300 for the osiris liscense and then 600 for up to 8 maps. i was thinking valet, low boost at 6, high boost at 8, launch control, and then im not sure what else.....

Also what pipe on the turbonetics kit should I get the bung welded. I honestly have no idea??

By the way I'm not looking to be a z06 killer. I Just want to have alittle something under the hood when some Little rice burner wants to bring out a ruler and measure up lol. So I'm not looking to push more that 385 or 400 rwhp. I attached some pictures of what i have til now.

I hope your not planning on racing at IFO without a tune. FYI, this should be posted in the FI section.

i agree it doesnt sound like your leaving a lot of time for yourself to get the car tuned. No tune = blown engine. Most people usually drops the engine to install the turbos. You can check in the FI section just to be sure, you can also check my350z.com. My350z has more info and the install is the same.

It seems like your rushing it. These things don't have timelines. You will run into issues. Just say in...

Good luck with the tear down in 5-6 hours, it took a pro shop about 5 months to build my engine, and boost it. Once boosted it took about a week to tune it down pat. 5-6 hours to get it done is rushing it. It takes more than a few hours to tune things right. Also, If you dont do the injectors with the boost you will screw things up. That is what the tune is really for. Screw that up and your cars ECU will think its lean and throw more fuel out or the other way around and then either way bye bye engine. Tune it right or you will I repeat WILL blow your engine.

No. I'm nut running at ifo just going for the show. And we have been working on the car for the last 2 weeks. Just acouple hrs a day. tomorrow we are expecting to have everything off the front end, wheels, and fender lining. If we don't finish by Saturday then no big deal.

And how come my tuner told me to hold off on putting my injectors in until I drove down there.

I was told if I install them now my car would run really crappy if at all????

^Because your car needs to be tuned with the new injectors, otherwise it will run like crap.

Ok. Sounds good. Today is going to b a long day. We will be working on the car till all hrs of the night. I'll take lots of pics.

Question. When installing my aem. Which color cable or where did u connect the .5volts. I don't have a volt meter. So it makes it spittle more complicated

If you install the injectors before you take it to get tuned you will not be able to drive the car and will have to get towed to the shop. If you wait and have the injectors installed at the shop before the tune you will be able to drive there, but it is somewhat risky and you will have to pay shop labor charges to install them which could run as high as $2-300. You would have to be very careful to not go into boost at all for fear of blowing your motor, and in all honesty it would be best to trailer the car there and get the tune. If you've got AAA they'll tow up to 100 miles for free. Would be worth it just for the peace of mind for me

OP, please take the advice of everyone posting in this thread. Everyone that posted has been through the process (including myself) and we aren't trying to do anything but give you true, honest, and responsible advice. Missing a car show because your car isn't tuned is not the end of the world. Install your injectors and tow the car to the shop to get it tuned properly. Towing & a proper tune is far less expensive than replacing your engine. Btw, uprev only has the capability of 5 maps. Good luck in your decision.
