That is true to a point but you can't just replace the rods. At a minimum you'll need new bearings, gaskets, etc, and with the amount of labor required you'd have to be stupid to not upgrade some other parts at the same time. For a basic SC setup you really don't need to crack open the motor tho.. they never run quite the same and there's no way you're going to be making rod bending power with it. You'll be lucky to make 350 with a basic stillen kit.. lol
probably around 6 grand all together for the kit/tune then

VQ interals handle basic stage 1 FI kits easily. Thousands and thousands of people have basic stillen, procharger, greddy, ect kits with no problem. The problem is boost is addictive, everyone loves it at first, then they want a boost controller, larger turbo, ect. That is when rods give out.

It is pretty much pointless to build an enigne if all you ever do is a bolt on FI kit. But OP first said FI, then NA, then FI. He has no clue what he wants.

I want to NA to prep for FI, but if the stock internals aren't going to give out from 330whp with a stillen s/c kit like I fear. Then maybe going FI is a good choice?

OP how many times are you going to let people tell you the SAME THING over and over?

Unsubscribing due to OP's thick head. Sorry.

Why are you set on buying a POS Stillen SC??? That is the most underpowered form of FI for the VQ and it doesn't even fit under the hood. You were given good advice so far from many who have had or currently have FI builds. A proper build consisting of a built short block, VORTECH supercharger and all supporting mods can easily cost anywhere from $10-15K+, depending on what you find used. If 350whp is all you want then you will hear this yet again: Vortech SC with a conservative tune and supporting mods..................done.

You need to truly decide what your goals are and how much you are willing to spend.

its not as simple as that. if you want an FI build, decide what type of kit and build around that. ie low comp pistons etc(which would be slow n/a). if you really only want 350 then just get a basic turbo kit or a vortech kit, slap it on, fuel pump, injectors, get tuned and call it a day. the rods will hold if properly tuned to like 400tq at the wheels. if you plan on a stillen sc then youd need the stage 4 to maybe not even hit 350hp. if you go n/a get high comp pistons, more aggressive cams etc. you really have to dedicate to one route and keep with it. everyone is making good suggestions, but you need to decide on your own and use the search button more.

If you cant answer the basic questions of what route you want to go, and idea of components etc on your own you need to research more before you ruin your car.

Hi guys, just curious. I have an 06 5at like OP. I haven't gotten a tune but I do have transgo, HFC, Exhaust, plenum, z-tube and thinking about getting headers as well (dc).

With an osiris tune, how much whp do you think my g would be making
