ive been doing a lot of looking around i want to FI my g35. ive only been in twin turbo cars and i love the pin back in your seat they give you. however im thinking about go sc whats every ones take on the sc? what does it feel like? how much power can you make with a sc and a built motor? ive felt turbos in a g35 and loved it but it much more expensive and i don't see many company's making twin systems

 

Vortech sc or greddy twin turbo both have good rep. You could easily push 400 hp to the wheels with the vortech. It's just not practical to do to a daily driver or 100k+ miles for me. If you can't afford to have an engine blow up I wouldn't consider either. You have to be ok knowing there's a chance. But I would love to see it done so DO IT!!
I think the most important thing is finding a shop that is very familiar with the VQ engines. Don't bring it to a shop who does mostly hondas. You want them specializing on your engine. Bad tune=blown engine. Before getting too far into it, I'd find a shop first that you trust and see some of their work

i was gonna have z1 tune the car once i decide which form of FI i go with. I have a block sitting around so i figured i build it while its FI on the stock motor and if i blows up swap it out or if it doesnt just swap it anyway and make more power. i thought about using the hks supercharger since it can make over 500hp thats when i build the motor but i havent heard many thing about it. is there ways to add more boost to a vortech and possibly make 500 or more hp?

 

I'd call up and talk to the pros themselves. Since z1 sells both they shouldn't be biased towards one another. Ask what they sell more of. Make sure they are both under warranty if you install it yourself. What kind of front bumper do you have? Kuruma probably has the best air flow for the intercooler. Plus you're gonna wanna show that puppy off

 

 

I personally hate the sound of the SC and their lack of torque. But they are the safest option for a stock block, provided the tune is good. You should be able to squeeze 500hp out of a stock Vortech but that is not something I would do with a stock block unless you have a good tuner.

The Vortech SC will need some modifications to support higher HP. There are several builds over on my350z.com that have 700+whp using the Vortech, but those builds are heavily modified.

Turbos are fun if you build the block, especially twins. The more complicated the system gets the more of a PITA it becomes though.

 

id love to have a twin turbo kit but aam kits is 10k just for the kit and its like damn i dont like jwt set up

 

Implementing FI on the cheap is asking for trouble. Let it go and enjoy the car as-is. Do not mess with your daily driver. If you really feel the need, buy someone else's FI car on the cheap and hopefully you won't have to fix it up too much...

i think it will be worth it im just not sure which system to go with i thought about doing a sc and for the 400 hp and then when i want to make big number ill just switch to turbos with a built motor possibly a 4.0 stroker. if i find a greddy kit for sale ill prob just go ahead and get it

 

Just make sure to take it step by step. Reinforce the block first (especially those rods), boost with plenty of cooling/safety net, and make sure your transmission has been beefed up enough to handle the torque, whether 5AT or 6MT. Also might want to consider brakes to be able to stop with all the extra power, as well as suspension (stock suspension may not like coming on boost exiting a corner).

If you go 4.0 stroker with FI, that's gonna be BIG power. I've heard good things about the Brian Crower kits, although something like the Jun kit would be great as well (Cosworth parts, as well as lowering compression to 8.4:1 for FI) https://www.nengun.com/jun/stroker-kit-nissan-vq35de. Nearly 10k USD though, so add in the actual FI itself and install costs and you're looking at quite a pricey 10-year-old or so car (although it's gonna be one of the fastest 10-year-old or so cars out there, and probably eat alive most cars you'll see today!).

 

yeah i know its not like ill ever sell the car my car was owned by my brother before me and he had a stroker kit with gtm turbo kit on it. he still has the stroker kit so i just gotta come up the cash to get it. he sold the turbo kit though. i have so intentions on ever selling car so thats why i would go through with it all

 

anyone in here running an hks supercharger kit here have any input?
