Greddy EVO II with Supercharger

Just wanted to get some feed back on this combo. I know with turbos you want as much free flowing exhaust as possible...the bigger the better. Is this the case with superchargers? I have heard with s/c you want some back pressure. I have headers, custum y-pipe, 3 inch b pipe, and Greddy SP2. I am considering going with the Greddy EVO II. Would I be better off staying with what I have? And just so you know, I don't like the stillin or the borla dual. I am more into the aggressive look.

gman,

you've got it exactly backwards. with a turbo, you need some backpressure. this is the reason turbos spool. with a supercharger however, the power is coming from the crank and you want the exhaust to flow as freely as possible.

blink

Do you realize you are completely wrong?

The turbochargers on a car are powered by the exhaust flow. The faster and more voluminous the exhaust flow, the more the turbos spin. This is why turbos produce more boost the higher the rpms, because the engine is producing more exhaust, thus spinning the turbos faster, thus producing more power (up to the limits of the engine, of course)

So, in a turbo charged car, you want the freest flowing exhaust as possible. Not the largest, mind you, but the freest flowing.

In a supercharged car, you don't necessarily want backpressure. However, IF you have a very free flowing exhaust, AND you have intake and exhaust valve overlap, then, there is some chance that a supercharger, with the increased intake flow, will push the air (and injected fuel) straight through the combustion chamber into the exhaust, which can cause problems.

So, in a supercharged car, you might not want the freest flowing exhaust possible. However, notice this is a MIGHT not want, rather than a definite. As I explained above, it depends on a number of factors.

Really, thats something you should ask the specific makers, or the installer. I have heard that the Stillen S/C loses some HP when you change the exhaust from stock, or the headers, but other systems are different.

Good luck

yeah, that's the problem.....the manufacturer does not want to be liable if anything happens to your car, so they say, "We don't recommend changing anything other than the kit out of the box." bla, bla, bla!
