I'm glad to hear that the G35 only had 100 miles, I just dropped mine off with the APS TT and a brand new engine.. I was a little worried about the break in process before installing the kit.

Great numbers, I should have a dyno within the next couple of weeks.

Good luck with the APS twin turbo install Tony - by the way who's doing the install for you? I would have preferred to have seen 500 miles on the G35 before the turbo install though unfortunately time did not allow, APS techs had a very tight time frame to do the twin turbo install and the tuning/mapping development to suit the 05 G35.

Z1 Motorsports in Atlanta, they're right up the road and have done a few 350Z installs already. I have 53000 miles on my coupe, but I just got a new engine so I figure I'll take it easy once I get it back.

Peter,

A question for you... How much of the apparent gain of ~20-30 HP over the 04 model is contributed by the improved lower plenum design (which yields a greater intake manifold volume at the expense of shorter runners; the latter in turn presumably increases top end power at the expense of the midrange) versus the variable cam timing on the exhaust side.

Here is the comparison of the two plenums:

Thanks for your comments. As always, you just keep proving time and again that you guys have the BEST and MOST SOUNDLY engineered stuff, period!

Peter, when can we expect the APS TT for the '03 G35 to ship to the US?

Maybe a stupid question but I must ask, considering this was made specifically for the 05' coupe, will it be possible to fit it onto an 05' sedan with no problems?

I'm not sure that the new 05 engine ( produces much greater power than the 04 model engine, well not much higher power in any event) power gains are that noticeable to be frank, we've now dyno tested a number of new 05 298 HP engines and on the chassis dyno the difference seems to be approx 5 to 7 WHP.

Here is the comparison of the two plenums:

Thanks for those kind words and we will certainly conduct some testing on the 05 engine with the 04 and 05 model lower plenum - I don't expect to see much difference in the power to be honest - certainly not on FI engines.

Thanks

Peter

dude, what do you expect Peter to say, "Yes, it is overstressed and will blow at any minute. You'd better stand back."

APS claims their system is designed to produce up to around 400 WHP on stock internals with complete safety- I dont think 420 would be pushing it that much more. Some (like Tuan at GRD in Chicago) have tuned the APS to higher numbers on the stock internals, but Peter will tell you a built bottom end is recommended. Tuan is running at 505 HP I think with no problems. This is all on the 03-04 engine, but I doubt Peter would say much different for the 05. Just my $.02 cause Im bored at work.

Read this thread from beginning to end:

Being where you are at, you probably have some access to a Unichip tuner. If you're thinking of doing anything beyond the stock tune of the kit (and doing anything to the stock internals) that thread will give you some information.
