Saying Hi and Nitrous ??

I've been viewing this site for a while and wanted to say hi and post my first question...

I just installed a NOS wet kit last week. I am tuning it and pulling dynos this week. My question is, why does nitrous have to only come on at WOT? As long as the rpm is above 3K and below 6~, why wouldn't I want the option of using nitrous at any throttle position? Basically having extra power (like a SC or turbo) at any time.

Thanks

Beastie

Wouldn't it be difficult to use? I mean, if you sprayed at partial throttle, you'd make some more hp/tq, but if you really want more hp/tq wouldn't you just give the car gas? Also, at WOT the car isn't getting data from the O2 sensors (it switches to a WOT fuel map) so having the ECU communicating with the O2 sensors may mess things up with while spraying.

Usually when people want power they floor the car, which is probably the main reason why the nitrous shot is set up to come on at WOT. If you had it set up to come on at partial throttle I guess you'd need an "on" switch and then have the "auto off" for shifting... I guess it could work... (now you've got me thinking).

If you want to talk to some local Floridian Nitrous people, ZUL8R and Pimpinpearl both have 100 shots on their cars and have them hooked up TOTALLY DIFFERENTLY.

After you get 5 posts under your belt you can send either of them a PM or you can find them at the Florida G35 Club site which is one of the club forums here on driver.

I'd love to see your set up some time, don't be a stranger.

Well, I was thinking that using the rpm switch (installed already) to cut off n2o and maybe the NX Maximizer to control the level.

Your thoughts on the ecu and wot fuel maps are interesting... Would the ecu compenstate if not at wot? Good question. I would think so with a lower shot and I have a wet system.

I am getting it dynoed tomorrow and will post pix at night. I am aiming for +75 wrhp over base.

By tuned, I mean the F/A ratio. Being a wet system I can control the amount of extra fuel added from the jet.

My Greddy EVO2 is being installed tomorrow too!!!

You don't have the reserves to use n20 all the time at part throttle. Can you imagine how many # of n20 you'd need to cary around, if you were spraying all the time at aprt throttle?

I like to think of nitrous as a special occasion power adder! extra burst of fun. passing power. drag racing. freak out you passengers. etc!

Cool

Your right but I am putting 2 10lb bottles in the trunk and setting it to only spray when I hit my hidden arming button.

I guess I was/am just trying to make continuous cheap power (when I want it) w/o dropping the money on a turbo or sc.

just remember...turbos and sc don't need to be "refilled" like a bottle does
