Why do you inject water into the air intake? What is methanot?

Injecting atomized water and methanol (not methanot) under hi-pressure cools the intake charge and helps reduce the chance of pre-ignition and/or detonation. This is for F/I applications, as no real benefits accrue to a N/A engine in most cases. As a byproduct of its use, the methanol also keeps the inside of the engine shiny-clean. A lot of folks use windshield washer fluid, as many of these products feature a 50/50 (water/methanol) mix, which is considered a near-ideal ratio for this purpose. Some folks use it to allow for a more aggressive state of tune, and some use it for an extra measure of safety. So, if you are running your twin turbo through the desert, flip a switch to activate your water/methanol injection system... and relax. There's a lot more detail available, but those are the basics.

AM makes the "Cadillac" of WI systems.
There are many other less expensive alternatives though.

Thanks guys! Someone also resurrected a great post about it (I was wondering why my search for "methanot" came up blank!!!).

Madelinot, Congrats! My APS TT is 90% installed right now. I didn't have the guts to do it myself. I figured I would let the professionals handle this one. Anyway, did you have any problem with the AC line on the right side? Mine was rubbing a bit, but we bent it slightly to move it out of the way. Have fun, but be safe!

Thanks! Yes, I did have to bend the AC lines quite a bit. Nothing really hard to do and it's not rubbing on anything. Some pictures show how I bent the lines.

Later,

What do you think your 0-60 is now that you have added your APS TT? Now I know you might have to guess, but estimating that a stock G35 pulls about 5.5 - 5.8 depending on which source you read it from. Just wondering, cuz I am debating on dropping the cash for the additional power. Thanks

Madelinot, what exhaust are you running with the Kit. Right now, I have the EVO II from Greddy and I am getting a awful vibration when backing off the throttle from 3000 -2700. I originally thought something was grinding, but no I have narrowed it down to the Exhaust portion after the straight pipes. Have you encountered any of this? OH, BTW, I am still grinning since I picked up my car.

congrats!

100 hours of labor, that is insane. i tip my hat off to you, sir.

i have planned to purchase the APS tt kit in about a month or so. so i decided to dig into the install manual to see how sophisticated this install may be. pretty damn insane...

one question, in step 44, the manual informs to cut off a hard plastic line from the quick connector and from the metal line. do you happen to have a picture of how the fuel lines looked after cut and/or after installing the APS fuel line?

thank you in advance.
