yeah....unless you are under boost....there will be some air being released. Remember...the blower will be turning even when your not boosting, you don't need all that air in the engine...hence the hissing. I have that too. You can buy a BOV filter to quite that down a bit.

I thought that might be the case. I have a filter and just haven't installed it, but I can't see that making a big difference.
Thanks for the input...

It makes a difference. You can also stuff the filter full of "foam" (not sure what type). Others have gone this route and they've almost successfully eliminated all of the vacuum sound.

I've heard via the grape vine that CHOPS has successfully quieted down his G, maybe send him a PM (then post back w/ your results).

I'm going this weekend to talk the garage down the street and see if they'll let me use the lift for 10 minutes and install the filter. I'll send off a PM to CHOPS and see what he did on his G.
Hopefully more to follow...

Well it's been a few weeks (other things to do) but after a few PMs with CHOPS and buying a set of ramps, the filter is done and it works great. I added some packing foam to the filter (the kind you would fine in custom camera cases) and the BOV hiss is totally gone.

Thanks again CHOPS...

Next task... find that sweet spot on the gilmer belt

Im torn between a single turbo or the supercharger. My local shop GRD performance swears by the APS ST kit, but for daily drivability the SC just seems like the better option.

Since I havent driven a FI car, I really want to know somethings happened under the hood, and will all the torque from the turbo you will definately notice the performance increase "driving daily".

I spent some time thinking about the same thing, but after owning a few turbos over the years (ST and TT) I wanted the more linear power of the SC. All I can tell you is with the SC, you'll know something is happening under that hood.

Very nice sleeper G except for the supercharged logo. Any issues with the 5AT & Vortech? Future Valve Body kit?

The 5AT is doing fine with normal driving and the quick 'punch-it' to scoot around traffic. Shifting to manual to hold the gears and get max boost doesn't seem to bother the trans. I probably will go with the valve body kit at some point.

G8tor20,
After playing around with different tension levels, I noticed the amount of chatter was tied to the amount of visible vibration in the belt. With some help keeping pressure on the idler pulley, I got rid of the slack in the belt and the noise.

Does yours rattle at all anymore?

I've tried adjusting that slider bolt messing with the tension and found the spot where it rattles the least. I just would have thought that a $4000 product would not have such a rattle. My car faintly sounds like one of those beaters with a bad rattling engine bay.

I'm gonna take it to a good shop and see if they can figure it out cause it's driving me crazy.

And I am the same. My tranny seems to hold fine. A valve Body would be great but its another $1300.

do u have an 05?

Hey G8tor20, I talked to TS and they said they can raise the idle for the Fspec. U might want to try this option for the rattle problem bc I would love to know if raising the idle would solve it.
