Vortech SC in a 5AT

Hi all…
I‘m new to the forum and I’ve been doing a lot of reading on superchargers for the G35 coupes. I have a ’03 G35 5AT 10Kmi and based on everyone’s comments, I’m leaning towards the Vortech. I’m aware of the issue with the AT not down shifting fast enough when pushing the car to full throttle (needing to go the manual mode), but is this an issue when the car would normally down shift during normal urban driving? This is my primary car and I’m looking to boost performance for fun, not for racing etc. so I want to make sure Vortech is the right choice.

Looking forward for input…

I think you mean upshifting fast enough not downshifting, in normal daily driving it is not an issue.

Usually the forced induction kits recommend AT tranny work like revalve the valvebody for quicker more positive shifts.
Some guys who want better 1/4 mile times also go with a higher stall converter.

Just upgrade your valve body by sgp which gives crisper shifts and remove the rev limiter to with the Limited Flash from Techno Square and your good to go.

Thanks everyone for the info...
I wasn't too happy thinking I would need to go the route of Stillen SC with the hood issue. I'm pulling the funds together and hope to start the build the end of September. One other question, what is the change in sound both from the intake and exhaust?

Can't help you there, my exhaust is aftermarket, the only thing you will be listening to will be the whine coming from the SC...

Yeah..I have stock exhaust and crawford h/f cats. The sound is nice but all you really hear is the whine from the s/c and the hellacious BOV.....which I love (though I have only had the Vortech for a few days. After a while....I may get the BOV filter...we'll see)

I'll try and post a video of it somewhere....

I just went past 10,000 miles myself on the SC, loving every minute of it.

Sounds good g8tor20, the BOV may be something I'll consider too... keep me posted. I've been looking over the installation instructions on Vortech's site and I'm wondering about the intake filter. Is it removable for cleaning since it needs to be in place before installing the s/c?

Do we still need the ecu reflash bc it's only to make the rev limit to 7100 rpm when the 05 is already set at that.

All depends on how fast the car shifts to the next gear, you maybe ok if your redline is higher on the 05 but unless someones already installed one then I have no idea.
