Any 6MT Vortechs with L-Spec ECU?

Hey Guys,

I'm getting the Vortech installed on the 28th and I was wondering about this. I've seen a couple of videos and I was thinking to myself on how I wouldn't be able to shift that fast to avoild redlining. Those revs climbs so fast! Anyway, I was wondering in any of you guys got the limited ECU reflash to gain more rpms as a safety precaution? You'll also gain a removed speed governor and drive by wire upgrade, but most importanly the 7100 rpm redline. I know you 5AT guys are doing to give the tranny time to shift, but what about you 6MT guys? I've heard hitting redline on boost is far more dangerous than spinning the engine up to 7100 rpm. Also, for you guys with the L-spec, are you seeing more boost after 6500?

I thought about it but decided to stay with stock ECU.

I'm one of those that keeps every original part and thinks in the back of my mind I can put this sucker back to stock if I had to. That's probably the biggest reason I stayed away from the flash.

Yes, I have nailed the limiter countless times. Since I got the traction arms and camber rods my traction has been "night and day" better. I think this combined with getting used to the power keeps me off the limiter now.

Good Luck!

Chops,

I was thinking about that, but all the L-spec does is raise the rev limiter, speed governor, and open up the drive by wire 100%. If I ever went back to stock, I wouldn't even bother getting the ecu flashed back to stock. I'm just worried about bouncing off the rev limiter under boost.

Correct me if I'm wrong but once the ECU is flashed it can be flashed back to stock specs, but cannot be read by dealership.

I'm pretty sure your gonna hit the rev limiter no matter what, but that extra little bit of rpm would help.

Just wait until you go to show somebody the power and forget to turn the vdc off. Now that is a bad feeling!

What happens in that situation? The throttle closes and the BOV vents?
