what makes you think the VB upgrade is only needed for the Vortech ? If you dont want to upgrade the tranny...a SC is more suited than a turbo . Less stress on the tranny in the lower rpm's . I have a Vortech SC on my AT5 with no problems at all . It may not shift in auto mode at WOT untill you bounce off the rev limiter . Raising the rev limiter to 7,200rpm solves that problem .

If you don't want to touch the tranny get a SC.

Vortech and Stillen stage II are a good option but if you want a turbo, get a ST and leave it a stock boost.

I have a Greddy TT at 8psi and no tranny problems.

Vortech has been getting a lot of bad press around here with g8tor20's ordeal. I am driving a Vortech blown G (albeit a 6MT tranny) that has over 16k miles on the blower setup. There are no problems and no signs of problems with the supercharger or anything else for that matter.

Additionally, the dyno numbers you see (366/300) are at 5.7psi as reported by the Split Second piggyback ECU. The low boost is attributed to the free flowing exhaust yet the numbers are still respectable.

See booger's post ... he doesn't have the VB upgrade on his and he's putting down very respectable Vortech numbers. You really don't need anything else with the Vortech kit but there are always recommendations like tranny cooler, oil cooler, etc.

EverythingG35.com has the kit for $4700...

There's a guy in the classifieds right now selling his polished vortech BRAND NEW with a set of UD pulleys for $4100+shipping. If your serious about the vortech i'd hop on that deal right now.

I heard that neither Vortech (less 8psi) nor Stillen would need VB upgrade but it would be nicer if you get the VB upgraded
