Man...you guys are harsh.
I read about the G50 coupe in Road & Track or Car & Driver.
I dont remember which.
It was in the article where they compared the G37 with the BMW335.
The reasoning was that Infinti waited until the release of the 335 to top it with the G37. The same way the G35 was released after the 330. BMW is supposed to release the new M3 next year and the article said that Infiniti had the G50 waiting in response. Yes it said it was a V8.

Even though Inf. was waiting for the release of the 335 why is the new G37 slower! It was already compared head 2 head in Car n Driver i believe?!?! Not to bash the G37 ( even though i love the 07 and down bodies better ) but its not making the cut vs the 335 and not even close to the V8 on the new M3 pocket rocket..... Just some thoughts

The G37 matches the 335i in all categories except acceleration (it's a bit slower) and price (it's a lot cheaper).
Nissan is putting up the GT-R against the likes of the M3, and you'll see that it will be faster and cheaper.

when did nissan start making this 5.0 v8? maybe they are borrowing this 20+ year-old motor from ford? why not an existing 4.5l v8 in a mid-size sedan like the m? the funny thing about this, is that turbos allow for lighter weight (i.e. porsche), why would you need a heavy v8 for power? do you know how hard it would be to turn this thing if you add another 200+lbs to the front end? bmw did it right with the 335i. if you can make a front engine v8 work (corvette, m3, s4), great. but i think some of those cars are going to suffer (s4), because of the unusually heavy front end (and i think awd doesn't help understeer, either). turbo just seems for efficient, if designed properly.

Nissan is banking on large-displacement, normally-aspirated V6s for its mass-market, mid-range cars, with FI (i.e., turbos) for its halo flagship (i.e., GT-R). Their V8s are currently reserved for luxury offerings (e.g., M45, FX45) and large trucks (e.g., Armada).
A V8 for a performance model in the Infiniti G series makes no sense. It would confuse potential GT-R buyers, who would see a high-performance Nissan with a TT V6 and a high-performance Infiniti with a V8. The obvious choice (from the perspective of the average buyer) would be the V8, causing brand-cannibalization of the GT-R.

Definitely good points, gary c. There is no feature on the Nismo Z that I "have to have". Nothing that makes me even consider it for the money. Other people are different, I know...but I think Nissan will see that they've wasted their time (and money) with the Nismo Z as it is currently.
