he's doing displacement/hp ratios.

(i think).

very little explanation... not sure if that was speculation, hope, or just a pipe dream.

basically using the existing technology displacement with projected cylinders (6 - 8), and then calculated current hp with projected hp (330 - 440).

I know what he was doing... it's as rediculous as saying they should just put two engines in the car for double the power.

No you've got it all wrong, that was a twin turbo V12 he put in there.

Saw something the other day on the SpikeTV show MANswers about a Hemi contest to see what else people could put Hemi's in... the winning entries were a snowblower, a Zamboni and a bada** grill. God Bless America.

It's about time (I am being nice here) that Infiniti increases the engine power and displacement on the V8. Looks like the 5.0L will have 390 hp and 360+ of torque.

One thing that bugs me thought is why not make one with over 400 hp and increase the size to 5.5L instead of the 5.0L.

4.5L to 5.5L is a big bump in volume. Nissan's history of increasing displacement would suggest a 4.7L or 4.8L V8 from the old 4.5L. So be glad a 5.0L is a possibility (up 11%). IMO, it's not needed if Toyota pumps out an additional 102hp (up 37%) from a mere 0.3L (up 7%) increase over the old 4.3L (2007 Lexus LS = 278hp, 2008 LS = 380hp). That's massive.

So, I guess a ratio of displacement increase doesn't always equate to an equal ratio of power increase. Sometimes worse, sometimes much, much greater. Nissan can and should do it too!!
