So if I understand you correctly, there will be the new HR motor in the V6 model (meaning it would only be a FX35, not FX37) AND the new V8 motor will have the same VVEL technology found in the new G Coupe? WOW.

Also, a side air scoop on an SUV? Hmmmmmm...interesting. I don't think the wheels need to get any bigger but hey, we'll see how it looks.

Adjustable suspension? They are taking performance seriously on this new FX apparently. With the X6 coming out, I can see why.

Can't wait. Nice find, btw.

Meh, all of the things mentioned by the OP are pretty much expected when you think about it. 320hp just isn't going to cut it with the competition offering 350hp and 400hp motors. The VK V8 is due for an update and I'm sure after it's introduced in the 09 FX, we'll see it in the 2010 M. As for whether the base FX will sport a 3.5L or a 3.7L, who knows. What does matter is the fact that either way, it'll most likely feature VVEL which means the 09 G and the 09 Z will probably get the 3.5L VVEL motor as well, possibly with a slight bump in output. And who knows, the G37 may get a slight bump as well within a year or two.

ICC w/ "low speed following" and Distance Control Assist are kind of expected as BMWs improved system on its 08 5-Series IIRC is capable of bringing the vehicle to a stop on its own without input from the driver.

Active Steering and Adjustable Suspension seem like necessary options to remain competitive with other vehicles in the FXs class that already offer these systems to buyers.

As for this "side air scoop..." Meh, I dunno. Ever since the M3 everyone has been obsessed with fender vents and portholes. I hope its of the vertical type a la the Range Rover instead of the horizontal type a la the Escalade.

A panoramic sunroof seems like an expected option as even several low line brands are now offering them as options.

As for the Climate Controlled Seating... IT'S ABOUT TIME. Seriously, this s**t should have been made available on the '07 G Sedan, '08 Coupe and the EX. WTF is up with only heated seats in these vehicles? The units in the M work soooooo well. The Lexus IS and ES are available with ventilated seats for crying out loud.

As for the 21 inch wheels, what for? 20s are good enough. It's not like the 20 inch models are known for their cushy ride. Leave the wheels pegged at 20 inches so that replacement tires dont cost an arm and a leg.

And as for the one thing that should have been listed but wasn't...A 6 OR 7 SPEED TORQUE CONVERTER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. Honesly I'll be very disappointed with Nissan/Infiniti if the 09 FX doesn't make it to market with a slushbox packing more than 5 gears. 5 Speed autos are done in and its time to move forward in the transmission department. While the 5 speeder currently used in Infiniti vehicles is one of the best transmissions on the market IMO, Mercedes has their 7 speeder, Lexus their 8 speed, and BMW is supposedly getting ready to introduce a ZF 8 speed on their upcoming all new 7 Series. It's time for Infiniti to introduce a 6, 7 or possibly 8 speed automatic of their own.

I agree. Now is the time to bring over the tranny from the GT-R or a derivative of it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the GR6 box in the Coupe but I still want a traditional stick and clutch to be an option. The only thing is that IIRC the unit in the GT-R is a rear mounted transaxle a la the same layout used in the Corvette whereas the FM based cars (G, Z, M, FX, EX) all feature conventional front mounted trannies.

Here is what GT-R is referring to:

Interesting stuff. Also notice that Infiniti discloses the transmission on the EX but not the FX. Hmmmmm.....

No more "bionic cheetah". On to the "supernatural cheetah".

I am really wondering how much power a 5.0 Liter VVEL V8 would make.

The VQ37VHR is making 89.1 HP/liter and the VQ35HR is making 87.4.

The current VK is making about 72.2 HP/liter.

The person who went to the consumer clinic said the new FX50 makes 390HP. That means about 78 HP/liter. That seems a little on the low side.

I hope the new engine is making closer to 400 HP or more.

You're wondering about the hp (as am I) but I'm really wondering how the VVEL in the V8 will effect gas mileage. I don't see that it helped the G37 all that much. I don't know. Maybe some G37 owners can correct me.

Specific output is an overhyped rating that the S2000 fanboys like to wet themselves over. A good example of how hp/l can be worthless is the Z06. 7.0L and 505hp combine for "only" 72hp/l but no one will deny that the SBC is a proven and stout motor capable of handling in excess of 1000hp. Honestly, who cares if Infiniti builds a 5.0L V8 that "only" cranks out 390hp. That's still a bit more hp and higher specific output than the competition can squeeze out of their engines (BMW with it's 367hp N62 4.8L V8 and Mercedes with it's M273 388hp 5.5L V8).

You will if you land yourself a GT-R. I want to know pricing and I want to know now!
