but the vq35 motor is 3.5 liter v6 where as the scion xb has like less than a 1.6liter motor, correct me if i'm wrong...

my old man's 280z has a oil filter the size of a 32 ounce gatorade bottle and that's a 2.8 liter motor...

but i was indeed surprised the first time i changed the oil on my 2k2 6spd maxima that the vq35 had such a small filter....

i've only changed my oil drain plug gasket on my 2k2 6spd maxima like once and that was like after the fifth oil change..... been on the same gasket since and i'm already at about the 20th oil change... not a nary a drip at the plug.....

as for the g, i will probably get a new gasket every 2 oil changes.... unless infiniti service changes for me...i'll ask if they do the next time since i forgot about it during a recent oil change at infiniti...

On the oil dipstick, where should the oil level be at? I just checked my oil after driving about 3k miles on my first synthetic oil swap (car has 16k). My oil level is a little above half way to full according to the markers. Is that adequate or should i add more oil?

I have a feeling my car might be burning a little oil.

In the middle is where you want to be, the happy medium. Now if you were going on a road trip, I would nudge it up toward the full mark for good measure. Check the level at every full tank of gas, a good habit to get into. I always keep an extra quart in the trunk for emergency.

Question guys? do you guys change the oil yourselves because it saves you a few bucks or because this way you are sure you didnt get fooled by a shop of charging you and not doing the oil change? i usually just take the oil and filter and plug to the shop and watch them do it in front of me, i think its too much of a hassle to change the oil especially considering on how low the G is...

What's really sad is that's the same size filter almost every 04 and up Nissan/Infiniti uses... even my dads 5.6L Titan...

is there any chance you can post some pictures of the hockey puck buffers/adapters you made for the jack stands? I am curious to see an example of it to help with making my own.
