I got nailed for tint and it's a fix-it ticket...but I get a letter in the mail that if I don't "fix-it" then I have to pay the $115 fine. I'm likely going to pay the $115 rather than deal with removing the tint, getting the citation signed off and mailing it in, re-tinting. My question is does a tint ticket go on your record like points or affect your insurance rates at all? It's not a 'moving' violation so figured it was like a parking ticket or something, anyone know for sure?

 

My friend gets them all the time up here in O.C. It does not affect your driving record or insurance. What my friend does is he has a friend at a dealership and he switches plates on the car and then takes it to the DMV/police to have them sign it off.

 

Dont they check the vin?

 

u could go to your optometrist (hope i spelled that right), but yeah you can get a written consent stating that you need the tint in order for you to drive in the presence sunlight.
