Help, 03 auto shifter stuck in neutral/manual

Hey, I was stopped at a red light and accidently hit my auto shifter into the manual mode. When I tried to put it back in drive it was stuck. It stays over in the manual mode side, but does not display any gear on my dash. When I try to push it over to drive it only goes about half way then stops. When I push it over this far, my dash says its in neutral. I can turn the car on and off but cannot take the key out. I tried using the shift lock, but it had no effect. It seems like there is somthing wrong with the gates of the shifter maybe? I have no idea, I had to have the car towed home and I'm looking for any advice or help.

thanks for any replies.

I kinda ran into the same thing except I had the Momo auto shift **** on there. It was stuck because I over-tightened the mini-bolts that held the shifter into place with the tiny allen wrench.

You might want to try taking out the shift **** and see if the "push-down" mechanism is stuck. Just push down that plastic piece and undo the clip hidden inside (make sure you don't lose that tiny clip!).

Good luck.

I tried doing a search because there were a few threads with install pics but the results came up with messed-up pics in those said threads.

Basically there is a little plastic piece at the bottom of your shift ****. This needs to be gently pushed down. You'll then see a "U-clip" that's metal and once this clip comes off the shift **** comes off. Like I said before make sure this little clip doesn't go flying off in your car or you might never find it.

So you can shift now? And take the key out?

Sounds like a wire came loose somewhere if it's not showing on the display. If your car is still under warranty I would drive it back to the dealership and tell them the display is out. Sorry, I don't know how to take apart the console to track the issue down.

Yea, I can shift now. It drives and everything. I probably just didnt reconnect one of the harnesses when I put everything back together. Im gonna take it apart again tommaro and see if I can find out what it is. No warranty either.
