I've gone about 70 miles - filled up and the car took 18.7 gallons. I think there's about 2-3 gallons of reserve.

I've gone 60 miles with the light on if I don't drive too crazy. Usually there's about 3-4 gallons left when my light comes on.

I've gone about 100 miles, but the tank is tapped by then. I wouldn't recommend it.

I don’t go more than 20-25 after lights comes on... Something I've noticed though - generally I fill up at about 320 miles that's just about before the light normally comes on... with that I avg 17-18mpg (AT)... however if I fill up when there is about 1/4 tank left my avg mpg works out to 18-19 consistently... what's up with that

Other than the worry about running out, I wouldn't want to damage my fuel pump by running too low.

Some cars, like my previous Ford, has the pump in the tank and depend on the surrounding gas for cooling. One time, I let it get too low, and on the trip home the fuel pump went out.

The fuel light comes on in my car at 4 gal, dead on. Once it comes on I usually make two trips back and forth to work before I fill up.

This is great info. My first encounter with the gas light was this weekend. I wasn't sure how much further I could go, so I stopped at the first station I saw. However, I noticed the light came on while the needle was sitting on the first notch. That led me to believe I probably had at least 20 miles before I would be in some serious trouble. Thanks guys!!

I completly ignore the light now, because it comes on way too soon. I'd say I get at least 100 miles after the light comes on.

My gas gauge sucks. The light comes on at about 250 miles. I drive it to 360 (over 100 miles) and it still only takes about 17.5 gallons which means there is still 2.5 gallons in the tank

Typically about 4 gallons are left when the light comes on.
