Do you have to buy new shocks if you replace the springs?

I ordered 4 Espelir springs to lower my car about 1 inch all around. I called a local Meineke shop to have them installed but the guy told me that I would need to buy shocks that are 1 inch lower if I wanted my car to drive properly. I was wondering if this is true and if others have only replaced the springs but kept the OEM shocks. Also, what's the usual labor cost to have 4 springs installed? Thanks.

I have the Eibach prokit for a 1" drop with the stock non-sport shocks. The car handles fine. Could it be better with proper aftermarket shocks? Sure. Once the stockers start to leak, I will replace them. The stock shocks are now under continuous compression ouside their normal static point, so they will not last long like that. Give them a year at best.

don't forget to include an alignment job after the spring (or spring & shock) install cause alignment will be affected....

Thanks for the info. I did call around some more and I forgot that the Espelir springs only drop the car about 0.5 inch so it should be fine to use the OEM shocks.
